or a neighbour receiving support when they need it most.

The Calgary Food Bank's City-Wide Food Drive is one of our community's most powerful demonstrations of generosity. Donations collected through the campaign help provide food for more than 15,000 people each week and support over 63 partner agencies and programs throughout Calgary.

If you've received a collection bag, please consider filling it and placing it out for pickup on Saturday, September 19. If not, you can still participate through our City-Wide Virtual Food Drive.

This week thousands of volunteers are out across Calgary dropping off Calgary Food Bank Bags for the 22nd Annual City-Wide Food Drive.

Your support, by filling your bag, helps stock our shelves and build food reserves for the winter months ahead. Bags will be picked up by volunteers on Saturday, September 19th from 10am - 1pm.

Most-needed items include: 🥫 Canned vegetables and fruit 🍅 Canned tomatoes 🥣 Canned soup 🥜 Peanut butter 🍚 Rice 👶 Powdered baby formula

Last week, we were pleased to welcome Secretary of State Anna Gainey to the Calgary Food Bank for a discussion on food insecurity in our community.

We were grateful for the opportunity to engage with her on important issues impacting our organization:

📈 High demand: we currently support more than 15,000 people each week, 37% of whom are children
🤝 Community partnerships: we have more than 63 local partners, including our relationship with Breakfast Clubs of Canada in delivering the National School Food Program
🥗 Improving client choice: our click-and-collect program and our efforts to offer culturally appropriate food, to name just a couple

Food insecurity is a complex issue; it is encouraging to work with each of our partners–including government–on supporting those who need us most.

Today, we received a generous delivery of teddy bears for our Calgary Food Bank Birthday Hamper Program. These teddy bears were lovingly collected from Parker Well’s memorial site, dry-cleaned and donated to numerous charities throughout the city. We are incredibly grateful to Parker’s Family, Jen Oilinger and Steven Phan for helping us bring smiles, comfort, and happy memories to local children on their special day.

When families are facing food insecurity, birthday celebrations can become an unaffordable luxury. Through our Birthday Hamper Program, we help ensure children can still experience the joy of being celebrated with items such as cake mix, candles, party supplies, gifts, and special touches like teddy bears.
