*UPDATE*

Beginning October 1, 2026, Strathmore residents will have access to blue cart recycling collection, making it easier than ever to recycle more materials. The new program features single-stream recycling, which means there is no sorting required. Simply place accepted recyclable materials in your blue cart and set it out for collection.

This recycling program is part of Alberta's Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system and is administered by Circular Materials, a national not-for-profit organization. The program is not operated by the Town of Strathmore.

What You Need to Know:

✅ No additional costs will be added to your property taxes or municipal utility bills.
✅ Single-stream recycling means all accepted recyclable materials can go into one cart. No sorting required.
✅ Collection will take place every other Monday, beginning October 1, 2026.
✅ Blue carts will be delivered throughout September to households currently receiving Town residential garbage collection services.
✅ Wondering where to place your blue cart for pickup? Simply set it out in the same location as your black and green carts on collection day.

Starting October 1, 2026, blue carts will be available to Strathmore residents for recycling collection, with more accepted materials and single-stream collection (no sorting required!). We’re sure you have questions and fret not, we have answers!

This program is being rolled out as part of the province’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). Traditionally, recycling programs are paid for by municipalities. EPR shifts recycling costs away from municipalities and onto the producers of products and packaging. For you, this means there will be NO additional costs for this program on your municipal utility bills or through your property taxes.

We like to take pride in our properties and continue to provide well maintained homes. Thank you so much to Andy at BlindRiver Construction for giving some love to our eavestrough and drainage system today. He was efficient and helpful in repairing and making sure the correct systems were in place to drain water away from the property.
