76th Year--an enthusiastic group of 70+ volunteers who deliver Western Hospitality to every Grey Cup
The Calgary Stampeders won their first Grey Cup in 1948, but it was an enthusiastic band of Calgary fans who really left an impact on the game. A trainload of Calgarians invaded Toronto that year and created a festival atmosphere around the football final. They flipped flapjacks on the steps of City Hall, rode horses through the prestigious Royal York Hotel, led impromptu parades and dances and ignited an excitement never before seen at Grey Cup. This group, who single-handedly changed the Grey Cup from a football game into a national festival, became the Calgary Grey Cup Committee (CGCC). Since that famous train ride, the CGCC has been going to the host Grey Cup city every year promoting the City of Calgary, the Calgary Stampede and western hospitality. Today’s CGCC consists of over 75 volunteers who “invade” the host city every year. The Committee work tirelessly for 12 months planning logistics and events. In addition to the volunteers, who pay their own way, the CGCC is joined by a 4 piece western band, a mascot (Charlie Horse), the Calgary Stampede Queen, her two Princesses and the Stampede Indian Princess. In addition, they load a dozen stoves, a chuckwagon, over 500 pounds of pancake batter, 5000 cardboard cowboy hats (and 2 dozen real ones for VIPs), over 5000 pins, 500 mini footballs and promotion material onto the Stampedes’ mobile stage and transport all of
this to the host city for their events at Grey Cup.

Just nine weeks away!! Great morning at the 2026 Grey Cup Festival kickoff media conference! We joined the Calgary Stampede Caravan to provide a pancake breakfast and It was nice to see our friends in the media to get the hype train going. Get your festival passes for November and we will see you there! Entertainment today was provided by Lewis Cardinal and he played the official Grey Cup Festival anthem — amazing. It’s going to be a great week in Calgary

Great day at Fanfest! Thanks to for the tunes, to for getting our stoves there, to for the delicious sausages, to for their support and to the for the invite. Thanks to all the fans who came out for a pancake breakfast. We will be all over in November!

Join us this Saturday for a FREE pancake breakfast as you head into Fanfest! We will be cooking up Stampede style pancakes and sausage in the East Parking Lot from 11:30 to 1:30. Come by and say hello! We can’t wait to see you. This is just the first of many great events coming from the committee with Calgary hosting the 2026 Grey Cup!

Season’s Greetings, Calgary Grey Cup Committee Members!
Thank you all for another fantastic year. For those who joined us at the 112th Grey Cup in Winnipeg, it was a memorable week of fun and connection. Your dedication and volunteer work make our committee and partners proud.
Looking ahead, we’re excited for the 2026 Grey Cup in Calgary and 2027 in Regina, more details coming early next year.
Wishing you a safe, joyful holiday season with loved ones. Thank you for your ongoing support and for making this committee a wonderful family.
