Thanks to everyone for stopping by the Alberta Municipalities Convention and Trade Show this week.

Our control centre continuously monitors conditions across our system. During extreme and dangerous fire weather conditions, where the threat of sparking a wildfire is extreme, we may proactively shut off power to our impacted transmission lines until conditions are safe to turn it back on. This is called a Public Safety Power Shutoff, and is a last resort measure to ensure public safety.

Situational awareness is an important part of our effort to reduce wildfire risk. With weather stations and wildfire detection cameras installed across our system, we’re able to monitor real-time conditions and respond quickly to potential risks.
