Addressing sexual violence requires a “multi-pronged” approach, that includes education for adolescents, teens, and young adults of all genders and sexualities. Flip the Script with EAAA® is a program that focuses specifically on helping self-identifying teen girls and young women to assess when they are being put in an unsafe situation, and ultimately resist attempted assaults. It was originally designed for university students, but with the help of our guest, Dr. Sara Crann, it has been adapted and is now being delivered to teens.
While we’re often taught to fear “stranger danger”, the sad reality is that the majority of people who commit sexual violence are known to their victim - and they are often in a position of trust/power. Flip the Script with EAAA® aims to empower girls and young women with information and strategies that can help them to protect themselves when these situations emerge. In this episode, Dr. Crann walks us through the evidence that shaped this program, and talks us through what it looks like in communities.
