Does every room in your home need to “match”?

No. But they do need to belong together.

We gave this pantry permission to be a little bolder.

Then we quieted things down in the kitchen.

Same contrast. Same warmth. Same story. Just a different volume.

Because good design isn’t about making every room match.

It’s about making the whole home make sense.

Designer brain is a funny thing. Once you have it, apparently there’s no off switch. 😂

I can walk into a room and within about 30 seconds I’m mentally moving furniture, resizing the lighting, questioning the rug and wondering why everything is fighting for attention.

It’s not always about needing better things. Sometimes they’re all beautiful.

They just don’t work together.

And that’s really the difference between decorating a room and designing a home.

Colour doesn’t make a home less timeless. Bad colour decisions do.

Somewhere along the way, beige became synonymous with “safe” and colour became something people worried they’d get tired of.

I don’t buy it.

A beautifully chosen wallpaper, a deep blue cabinet or a little unexpected colour can give a room personality without making it feel trendy.

And if you’re going to live there for the next 10 or 20 years, I think it should feel like you — not the safest possible version of you. 😉

Swipe for a few rooms where we definitely didn’t fear the colour.

Swipe to see more hot takes with SCID… this time with Avery!

While she encourages oat milk latte gifts she isn’t opposed to nicknames 😉 (Avert, Ave, Aves, Ahhhhvery)

A dark, moody room invites you to slow down. To settle into a chair, pick up a book, and let the day settle for a while.

We love the richness in the details — not just for how they look, but for how they make you feel.

Because a well-designed home is about creating spaces that support the way you want to live. A room to retreat and relax. A room to simply be.

SCID Studio Life lately.

Working on multiple projects, still potty training, checking in on sites, drawing construction sets, and enjoying the last days of summer.

This may serve as August’s newsletter 🤓 🩵☀️

Can we all just agree that laundry rooms should be fun?
