Work in progress! You haven’t seen her in a while… or me, because I’ve been busy working on a couple commissions, and now, finally back at this piece, it’s been slow going, just adjusting the whites in this piece A LOT! Next I’ll be working on refining the hair and face, then finish up with the tufted bits of the duvet.

I hope to have this piece finished to bring to the Beacon Original Art Spring Art Show & Sale, April 25th from 10am to 4pm! Hope to see you there if you live in the Calgary and surrounding areas! Please come; you’re more than welcomed even just to visit with some great artists and see some incredible artwork in person! 🤗

“A Single Quiet Moment” / 11x14” / Oil on Hardboard Panel / AVAILABLE

Here’s more content I didn’t get around to posting last year. I shared the colour study for this painting, but never did share the final larger version since I was in the midst of prepping for an art show. She was completed October 2025.

I’m wondering if I should work on the back a bit more. Though it isn’t the focal point and is fine to be a bit blurry, I find it almost too blended compared to other areas. Hmmm 🤔 What do you think? Should I? Also, removing varnish is scary! 🫣

This 16x24” piece is all blocked in and ready for painting! Does this look like chaos or organization to you? For me, it’s a road map to help the actual painting feel less intimidating. I think it’s going to be extra helpful for this larger piece with so many shapes and lines! It’s definitely not a perfect under-drawing, and I’m not married to keeping the painting exact, but it sure will help keep me from getting lost, and wasting time getting back on track throughout painting this piece.

Feeling excited about turning this idea into an oil painting!!!!!! Thanks for all the encouragement regarding the composition, friends! 🤗

A little 6x9” oil study on canvas sheet to see if I like this composition as a painting… I think I do! Now to decide if I want the larger version to be the same size ratio or cropped differently 🤔 Any thoughts?? Leave a comment below 👇🏻

I loved painting this still life of eggs and plan to mix in more still life painting with my figure and portrait work this year! :)
