๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿฆ WARNING: THESE FROZEN TREATS MAY CAUSE EXTREME PUPPY FEVER. ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿšจ

The freezer door is OPEN and the Frozen Treat Litter is officially getting ready to find their FOREVER HOMES! ๐Ÿก๐Ÿ’•

After weeks of growing, wrestling, zooming, snuggling, and keeping Mama Creamsicle VERY busy, these little desserts are almost ready for their next adventure!

๐Ÿซ Skor Blizzard
๐Ÿฅค Slurpee
๐Ÿฆ Drumstick
๐Ÿจ Gelato
๐Ÿฅ„ Froyo
โ„๏ธ Snowcone

These six sweet treats will receive their first round of vaccines on September 23, and then they can start heading HOME! ๐ŸŽ‰

And unlike actual frozen treats, these ones come with four legs, endless kisses, puppy breath, questionable decision-making skills, and absolutely ZERO chill. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Think your family could use a little more sweetness?

Foster Home Needed!

Lenny ๐Ÿ’›

Estimated Age: 5 years
S*x: Neutered Male
Estimated Breed: Shepherd Mix
Estimated Weight: 37.7 kgs.
Good with Dogs: Yes, with proper introductions
Good with Cats: No
Good with Children: Yes
Special/Medical Needs:
Estimated Energy Level: Medium
Current Location: Calgary, AB.

Meet Lenny! Lenny is a big boy with an even bigger heart. While we donโ€™t know much about his past, we know Lenny is a loyal dog with a lot of love to give. He loves his humans, especially cuddling up for belly rubs and chin scratches.

At home, Lenny will stick close by your side and would do best in a home where his family is around more often than not. He is currently working on feeling safe in his crate and will need continued reassurance as he can be anxious when his people leave. He is not a big barker. Currently Lenny is living with a toddler and is very gentle and patient with her, even if he doesnโ€™t recognize heโ€™s much bigger than her (like when he tries to climb into my lap).

Outside of the house, Lenny is good on leash, but has high prey drive when it comes to squirrels and rabbits. He is responding well to corrections and would do best with an owner that can continue consistent training. Lenny is interested in dogs of all sizes and is working to manage his energy when he sees other furry friends out on his walks. He has not been tested with cats but given his prey drive introductions would need to be slow and supervised.

We have absolutely loved getting to know Mandy and watching her slowly come out of her shell. She is truly an old soul - gentle, sweet and incredibly loving once she knows sheโ€™s safe.

And honestly? Sheโ€™s the whole package.

๐Ÿพ Potty trained

๐Ÿพ Adores her foster sisters
๐Ÿพ No food aggression
๐Ÿพ Loves affection and cuddles

Mandy has fit beautifully into our home and has shown us what a wonderful family dog she can be. There is something incredibly special about watching a once-shy puppy realize that people can be kind and that she is safe and loved. ๐Ÿ’—

Now she just needs her people.

We would love nothing more than to see Mandy go to a family who will include her in their adventures, take her for car rides and walks, give her a cozy place to curl up, and love her for the rest of her life.

๐Ÿก Mandy is ready for her forever home.

If you think that might be with you, please reach out to apply. And if you canโ€™t adopt, please share her post, her family may be one share away. ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿพ

Someone out there is going to be incredibly lucky to call this beautiful girl theirs. โค๏ธ

Secretariat ๐Ÿ’™

Estimated Age: 6 years
S*x: Neutered Male
Estimated Breed: Queensland Heeler Mix
Estimated Weight: 35 lbs
Good with Dogs: Yes, with proper introductions
Good with Cats: Unknown
Good with Children: Yes
Special/Medical Needs:
Estimated Energy Level: Medium
Current Location: Calgary, AB
Adoption Fee: $650

Meet Ariat! His official rescue name is Secretariat, but this sweet six-year-old boy is affectionately known as Ariat in his foster home.

Ariat is a 35-pound Queensland Heeler mix who absolutely loves being around people. Although he has Heeler in him, he isnโ€™t nearly as high-energy as you might expect. He enjoys going for walks and exploring, but he would be just as happy spending the day curled up beside you for a long nap.

He is a friendly, affectionate boy who does very well with children, men, and other dogs. Ariat would thrive in a home with another friendly dog to keep him company or with someone who can regularly take him on walks, outings, or playdates so he has opportunities to socialize.

Ariat is a wonderful companion for adventures and is great on car rides. He is also a very good boy on his walks - although sometimes he forgets how to walk in a straight line! With a little guidance, he does great and happily continues on his way.

Ariat is potty trained, although he may have an accident if he is left alone for too long. He is still learning that his crate is a safe place, as he currently finds it quite frightening. His future family will need to continue working on crate training slowly and patiently using positive reinforcement. In the meantime, some nights he prefers the comfort of sleeping in his humanโ€™s bed - and he makes a wonderful little cuddle buddy!

He is extremely food motivated, loves just about every treat, and this will be a great tool for continuing his training. Ariat is a loving, easygoing companion who wants nothing more than to be included and close to his people. He would make a wonderful addition to a home that can offer him companionship, patience, plenty of social time, and a cozy place to nap.

๐Ÿพ Meet Oreo! ๐Ÿพ

Oreo is an adorable 2-year-old lowrider who will be arriving at BARCโ€™s on September 6 and is looking for a foster home! โค๏ธ

This little guy was born and raised on Skid Row and has lived a life most dogs could never imagine. He has never felt grass under his paws, had the freedom to run around and do zoomies, or really had the opportunity to simply play and be a dog.

Despite everything, Oreo is incredibly friendly with people โ€” both men and women. He loves a good back scratch and is a total couch potato at heart. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Because Oreo has spent most of his life as a solo dog, primarily on a short leash or in a crate, we donโ€™t yet know how he will do with other dogs or children. His foster will get to be part of helping us learn more about him as he discovers what life in a home can be.

Oreoโ€™s previous owner recently moved into housing and made the difficult decision to give him the opportunity for a better life.

Now itโ€™s Oreoโ€™s turn. โค๏ธ

๐ŸŒฑ His first patch of grass.
๐Ÿพ His first real zoomies.
๐Ÿงธ His chance to play.
๐Ÿก His chance to finally experience life as a dog.

Oreo arrives September 6 and needs a foster. Who wants to be the person who shows him just how good life can be?

๐ŸถYour dog has better taste in music than you think! ๐ŸŽต

Researchers from the University of Glasgow and the Scottish SPCA played five genres of music for shelter dogs โ€” soft rock, Motown, pop, reggae, and classical โ€” and measured their heart rates, stress levels, and behaviour throughout.

THE RESULTS
Reggae and soft rock came out on top, showing the biggest positive changes in behaviour.

Dogs listening to those genres spent more time lying down, had lower heart rates, and showed reduced stress levels overall.

Basically, your dog is out there wishing they were vibing to Bob Marley and you had no idea.๐Ÿ˜Ž

In the study, just like humans, every dog showed their own individual preferences. So while reggae and soft rock won overall, your dog might still have their own thing going on.

The Scottish SPCA found the results so promising they now pipe music into their shelters to help keep dogs calm and comfortable. If it works for shelter dogs dealing with a stressful environment, imagine what a good playlist could do for your pup at home! ๐Ÿ

So next time you leave the house, maybe put something on for them. Might we suggest a little reggae? ๐ŸŽถ

๐Ÿ—จ๏ธDoes your dog seem to react to music?
Do they love a particular song or genre?
Tell us in the comments! ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿพ
