United in Treaty has been postponed until November. Tickets are still available!

Saddle Lake Cree Nation is asserting its inherent and Treaty 6-protected authority to provide gender-affirming care on reserve, despite Alberta’s restrictions on care for trans youth. It is developing its own health law, recruiting clinicians, and preparing for potential litigation if Alberta or a professional regulator contests that authority.

This has not yet resulted in a court case. However, if the dispute reaches the courts, a ruling could clarify the modern scope of the Treaty 6 medicine-chest promise and determine whether Alberta’s restrictions can be enforced against Saddle Lake or participating clinicians. The consequences could affect healthcare access for both First Nations and non-Indigenous Albertans—particularly trans youth.

I’m being dumb as hell stepping into this issue, but here we go:

I keep seeing posts about this on right wing accounts and so I do have something to say about it. Family annihilation is a massive problem in our society—and it’s a mostly male epidemic. Why is there such an asymmetrical concern by right wing men about Lindsay Clancy being held accountable for what she did, but little concern about the vast majority of individuals who are carrying out these terrible acts. If you care about Lindsay Clancy killing her children and being held accountable, you should probably be more horrified at 90+ percent of men who carry out these acts within the US.

China is salivating because the Trump admin is being strategically stupid—and their mistakes are going to lead to the death of American hegemony.
