Happy IT Professionals Day to the people behind the technology. đŸ’»đŸ’š

They keep systems running, solve the problems nobody expected, protect what matters and occasionally remind us that, yes, turning it off and back on is still worth trying.

You may not see their faces here (by popular request 😂), but our clients experience the impact of their work every day.

To the IT professionals at TeckPath: thank you for the patience, curiosity, problem-solving and care you bring to the job.

Different people. Same mission.

Happy IT Professionals Day!

Vendor security questionnaires are becoming a regular part of doing business with larger organizations.

And while the questions may change, many of them are asking for the same thing: proof that your security controls are actually in place.

MFA, backups, security training and access controls matter. But when a customer asks for evidence, can your team produce it without searching through old emails, spreadsheets and documents?

That’s where security readiness and evidence readiness become two different things.

In our latest article, we look at why vendor security reviews keep coming back — and why keeping compliance evidence organized throughout the year can make the next request much easier to handle.

Security is one thing. Proving it is another.

Friday Tech Tip: How many passwords do you actually use?

For many people, the answer is fewer than they think. The same passwords often end up being reused across personal accounts, apps and sometimes work systems.

That’s exactly what credential stuffing takes advantage of.

When credentials are exposed in a breach, attackers can automatically test the same email and password combination against other services. One compromised password can suddenly become a problem across multiple accounts.

The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security recommends using strong, unique passwords and password managers as part of good password security practices.

For small and medium businesses, a password manager is a relatively simple security improvement. It helps employees create and use unique passwords without expecting them to remember dozens of complex credentials.

And that’s the important part: one password shouldn’t be the key to several doors.

If someone on your team reused a personal password for a work account, would you know?

Attackers are moving faster. The question isn’t only whether your security tools can detect a threat it’s how quickly someone can respond when they do.

That’s the role of Managed Detection and Response (MDR): continuous monitoring, human-led investigation, and faster action when a real threat is identified.

Because detecting an attack is important. Stopping it before it becomes a bigger incident is what matters.

Being on AWS doesn’t automatically make your cloud environment secure.

AWS operates on a shared responsibility model. AWS protects the infrastructure that runs the cloud, while organizations remain responsible for much of what they configure and run within it including access, permissions, data, workloads and security settings.

And those environments don’t stay static.

New services are deployed. Permissions change. Temporary access gets forgotten. Configurations drift. Small changes over time can create security gaps that weren’t there when the environment was first set up.

That’s why cloud security isn’t just about getting the configuration right once. It’s about maintaining visibility into your security posture as the environment changes.

TeckPath Sentinel AWS Cloud Advisor helps identify configuration and security posture issues across AWS, giving teams a clearer view of what needs attention and where to prioritize improvement.

AWS provides the secure foundation. How you configure and manage what runs on it still matters.

Answering a call and triaging a call are two different things.

Many AI receptionist tools are designed to solve the first problem: answer the phone, capture what the caller says, and generate a transcript or summary.

That’s useful. But after hours, there’s another important question: what should happen next?

Effective triage goes beyond capturing a message. It means understanding the context of the request, assessing its urgency, and determining the appropriate next step whether that means providing information, documenting the request, routing it to the right person, or escalating it for immediate attention.

That distinction matters because after-hours requests have different levels of urgency. Effective triage helps each one receive the right response, at the right time, from the right person.

At TeckPath, this is how we think about practical AI: technology should do more than automate a task. It should help businesses make better decisions, improve how they serve their customers, and make their operations more responsive.

That thinking is behind Tebaqi, our approach to AI-powered after-hours triage. It’s designed to understand what’s being asked, prioritize what matters, and connect each request with the right next step.

Because the opportunity with AI isn’t simply to answer more calls.

It’s to make every interaction more useful.

Your identity perimeter is bigger than your employee directory.

Service accounts, app registrations, API credentials, and third-party integrations can all hold access to critical business systems, sometimes with more privilege than expected.

The question isn’t only “Who has access?”
It’s also “What has access?”

In our latest article, we look at why non-human identities deserve a place in every organization’s access governance strategy.

Traditional antivirus was designed to recognize known malicious files. But modern cyberattacks don’t always give it a file to find.

Attackers increasingly use valid credentials and legitimate tools already available inside an environment such as PowerShell, remote management software, and administrative utilities. This approach can make malicious activity look surprisingly similar to normal IT activity.

That’s where Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) adds another layer of visibility.

Instead of looking only for known malicious files, EDR also monitors behavior and activity across endpoints. A service account running an unusual command, an administrative tool appearing where it normally isn’t used, or unexpected activity outside normal patterns can provide important signals that something deserves investigation.

This is why TeckPath recommends Managed EDR as part of a broader cybersecurity strategy. Traditional antivirus still has an important role, but modern protection also needs visibility into what users, applications, and systems are actually doing.

Because sometimes the warning sign isn’t a malicious file.

It’s legitimate access being used in an illegitimate way.

08/25/2026

Attackers don’t need much time. And the challenge isn’t always a lack of security tools. Sometimes, it’s that those tools aren’t seeing the same story.

An endpoint alert may look minor on its own. So might an unusual sign-in, a new privileged account, or unexpected file activity.

But when those events happen together, they could indicate something much more serious.

That’s where SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) becomes valuable.

Instead of expecting your team to monitor separate dashboards for endpoints, firewalls, Microsoft 365, identity, email, and cloud environments, SIEM brings those signals together and looks for relationships between them.

For example:
Unusual login + privilege change + abnormal file activity
Individually, each event might generate another alert.

Correlated together, they can reveal a potential incident that deserves immediate attention.

That’s the principle behind TeckPath SIEM Elite: turning disconnected security events into meaningful visibility so teams can focus on the alerts that actually matter.

Because having more security tools doesn’t automatically mean having better visibility.

The better question is: Can your security stack connect the dots fast enough?
