Join us for the AFL-CIO’s International Student Worker Town Hall on Monday, September 28th at 4pm ET.
We’ll hear from experts about recent changes at the federal level to rules and policies affecting international student workers. This includes updates on F-1 visas—such as new Department of Homeland Security (DHS) guidance that narrows Curricular Practical Training (CPT) eligibility, directly impacting how U.S. employers hire international talent. We’ll also cover information on knowing and asserting your rights, what to do if your rights are violated, and answer your questions.
You can register for the town hall at: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/Alif0uTRQLmqXtjERWuxMQ #/registration
** Please note that we cannot give legal advice on particular situations during this session and that recording of the session is not permitted. **

Choosing Canadian arts means choosing Canada.
At this defining moment for our country, Michelle Chawla, Director and CEO of the Canada Council for the Arts, reflects on the power of arts and culture.
In her latest open letter to the arts community, she highlights the crucial role the arts play in times of uncertainty and change and speaks to the opportunity to meet the growing demand for Canadian arts both at home and abroad.
“The question before us is not whether the arts matter. It is how we can ensure the arts have the greatest possible impact at a time when Canadians, as well as the wider world, need and want what they offer most.”
In response, she sets out two priorities and emphasizes the necessity of public investment to meet this moment. “Because when we invest in the arts, we invest in Canada.”
