On September 18, we had a meaningful training session on Canadian referendum awareness, in collaboration with ActionDignity.

It was a great opportunity to learn, share ideas, and talk about why this kind of work is important for refugees and newcomer communities. We also worked together on five important questions focused on Afghan women and their experiences, voices, and needs.

Yesterday, Afghans in Calgary came together—men and women, young and old—to raise our voices for the women and girls of Afghanistan. Though we are far from home, our hearts remain with those who have been denied their basic rights, education, and freedom. We stood together not only in protest, but in solidarity, hope, and remembrance. Afghan women are not forgotten, and we will continue to speak up until every girl can learn, every woman can work, and every voice can be heard. 🇦🇫✊❤️

As many of us were unable to gather on Mother’s Day, we came together to celebrate both Mother’s Day and Eid, sharing joy, laughter, and meaningful connections. We were honored to recognize several outstanding mothers with certificates of appreciation for their dedication, resilience, and the countless contributions they make to their families and communities.

A special thank you to our distinguished guests for joining us and supporting our community. We would also like to sincerely thank Canadian Zalmi Society for their collaboration and support in making this program a success. Your presence made the evening even more memorable.

Moments like these remind us of the strength, kindness, and unity that women bring to our communities every day. ❤️

We were honoured to come together with the Calgary Single Moms Community and several other community organizations to celebrate a beautiful Mother’s Day event in support of mothers in our community. 💐

ACWGC was proud to be part of this meaningful collaboration, with our Executive Director, Rubina Hamdar, representing our organization at the celebration.

The event was filled with joy, connection, appreciation, and unity as communities came together to recognize the strength, love, and resilience of mothers. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this celebration memorable and successful.
