Day 2 of the Canadian Para-Climbing Summit was incredible, and it was amazing to see these athletes on the wall!

The coaches got to work with the athletes on making drills and expanding movement, while the setters worked with Jane on creating climbs for the para-climbers to compete on for Day 3.

To wrap up the day, climbers got to learn how to call for blind climbers and even got to climb blindfolded with a caller themselves! Thank you to Terry and Patti for running this, and thank you 𝐌𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐄𝐲𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 for making it possible.

Day 1 of the Canadian Para-Climbing Summit has wrapped up at Calgary Climbing Centre Rocky Mountain!

Today, coaches looking to expand their knowledge into the world of para-climbing got to listen to seminars led by current Paralympic coaches. Hearing all about para-climbing mindsets and learning to create drills for very specific athlete profiles has inspired these coaches both to take into their own coaching as well as potentially grow to coach the next generation of para-climbers. Thank you, Laura and Vanessa!

Across the gym, our setters were led by Jane Cuff in learning how to set para-climbing competition routes and the differences they bring. The setters will be back in action tomorrow for a full-day setting clinic in preparation for Saturday's event!

These summits last for the next few days and are actively being filmed for the 'Making the Cut' documentary. There are still volunteer spots for Saturday's mini-comp, as well as the 'Climb Like a Para-Climber' session happening after the competition concludes! The Alberta Climbing Association is proud to support the Canadian Para-Climbing Summit at Calgary Climbing Centre – Rocky Mountain in Calgary, Alberta. Please join us from Sept. 17-19 for para-climbing workshops and various events, including the community climb like a para-climber competition on Saturday afternoon.

This three-day event is made possible through financial contributions from the Canadian Paralympic Committee and the Government of Canada, the producers of Making the Cut – A Canadian Para-Climbing Documentary, and our community sponsors, Mitchell Eye Centre and Mountain Equipment Co-op.
The summit brings together athletes, coaches, route setters, classifiers, volunteers, and the climbing community for para-climbing development, education, and competition.

The summit includes:

• Team Canada Para-Climbing Training Camp
• Coach and route setter development
• Classification education
• Clean sport education
• Adaptive climbing workshops
• Para-Climb Mini Competition
• Climb Like a Para-Climber community event

🎥 All Summit activities will be filmed for the Making the Cut documentary.

It's our birthday, and we're turning 30!

We're excited to be celebrating this milestone with all our staff on Sunday, November 30th, at our OG gym, Chinook.
Chinook will close at 5pm this Sunday to host this staff only event.
