⚡️ The Peace River Nuclear Power Project is part of growing interest in the future of nuclear energy in Western Canada.
Following the signing of a new MOU between Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories to explore nuclear energy and strengthen grid reliability, the Peace Regional Energy Alliance (PREA) shared its perspective on what the agreement could mean for the region.
PREA welcomed the MOU as an important step for Western Canada’s economic and energy future, highlighting the Peace River Nuclear Power Project and the region’s readiness to support the emerging nuclear sector.
As interest in new nuclear grows, so does the Peace Region’s role in the conversation.

💡 How much does nuclear power cost?
It’s one of the questions we get asked a lot - and there’s more to the answer than the upfront investment.
Nuclear projects are long-term investments that provide reliable, clean electricity for decades while creating opportunities for Canadian workers, businesses and supply chains.
And by considering a fleet approach - building multiple projects using proven reactor technologies - Canada can build experience, strengthen its workforce and supply chains, and improve efficiency from one project to the next.

The 6th Annual Harvest Moon Festival is bringing a full day of community fun and Energy Alberta is excited to be part of it!

From classroom learning ➡️ real-world experience ➡️ a new role with Energy Alberta. ✨
It’s been a big summer for Communications Intern, Breanna Correia.
From creating content and supporting community initiatives to travelling to the Peace Region and talking careers with local high school students, Breanna got a first-hand look at what it takes to communicate about a major infrastructure project - and why keeping communities part of the conversation matters.
Now, she’s heading back to Mount Royal University with plenty of new experience - but she’s not leaving Energy Alberta behind!
Breanna has now stepped into her new role as part-time Communications Coordinator while continuing her Bachelor of Communication - Public Relations studies. 🎓
