There is a strange rumor going around that early cancer misdiagnoses are actually just parasites.

In my 17 years of medicine, parasites have been incredibly rare because our food, water, and government regulations are so strong. While misdiagnoses can happen with any medical test, early detection remains one of our best tools for better patient outcomes.

Alcohol is a toxin, and yes, it increases your risk of cancer. Anything it touches, from your tongue and mouth to your esophagus, stomach, and colon, can see a 4% to 8% increase in cancer risk.

That risk ranges based on how much you drink. Occasional drinkers will naturally have a lower risk, while those drinking every day will see that risk lean closer to the 8% mark.

Why does an annual physical exam sometimes miss cancer?

It often comes down to not having the right tools to detect certain types, like pancreas, kidney, and ovarian cancer, which are incredibly hard to find through a standard physical.

However, routine exams are still vital. I have personally caught melanoma, lymphoma, breast, liver, prostate, and even tongue cancer during annual physicals. Always make sure to see your doctor for your yearly checkup.

Why would you get an MCED (multi-cancer early detection) test? Maybe you have a strong family history of cancer, consider yourself health-conscious, or simply want peace of mind.

All of these are excellent reasons to consider one, but remember that MCEDs are designed to be a great add-on to your regular screenings. They do not replace standard care, so always make sure you stay up to date with your routine mammograms, PAP smears, PSA tests, and lung CT scans.
