Massage isn’t about digging harder or “breaking up knots.”

Your muscles aren’t full of little knots that a therapist has to physically crush apart.

Massage provides sensory input—pressure, movement, touch, stretching—to the nervous system. That input can influence pain processing, muscle activity, protective guarding, and autonomic state.

In other words:

🧠 The therapist provides the stimulus.
Your nervous system creates much of the response.

That’s why I don’t believe massage needs to hurt to be effective.

Sometimes getting the nervous system to feel safe enough to reduce guarding can accomplish far more than simply pushing harder into sensitive tissue.

Less fighting the body.
More working with it.

Between clients, I study, currently working on another certification. 📚💪

A lot of what I’m learning, I already use in practice—but continuing my education means refining those skills, expanding my techniques, and earning the certifications to back them up.

My days are pretty simple:

Train. Massage. Study. Family. Business. Repeat.

There’s always another skill to sharpen and another level to reach.

More knowledge. More tools. Better for my clients. 💆‍♂️🔥

Fitness has become way too complicated.

Social media can make it seem like every exercise needs 20 steps, the perfect angle, the perfect tempo, and the perfect technique—or somehow you're doing it “wrong.”

For most people, that just creates another barrier to starting.

Just move.

Lift weights. Run. Pull. Push. Carry. Move your body through different ranges and directions.

Start wherever you are.

5 lbs? Great.

Next time, try 7.5.

Five reps? Great.

Eventually, try 6.

You don't need the perfect program to start getting stronger. You need consistency and gradual progression.

Move. Train. Recover. Come back and try to do a little more.

Fitness doesn't have to be complicated.

Massage therapy is physical work. So train for it.

Yes, technique and body mechanics matter. But if you want longevity as a massage therapist, you also need strength, conditioning, mobility, and physical capacity.

We tell therapists to protect their hands, protect their backs, and use proper technique—and we should.

But protection isn't only about avoiding stress.

It's also about building the capacity to handle it.

Your hands, wrists, shoulders, back, legs, and core are part of the tools you use every day.

Condition them.

Train them.

Make them resilient enough for the workload you're asking them to perform.

I tell other therapists all the time:

Hit the gym. Train for the profession.

A stronger, better-conditioned therapist has more physical options at the table—and a body better prepared for a long career.

Technique protects you.
Conditioning prepares you.

ONE STRETCH WON’T UNDO 10 YEARS OF PAIN.

Social media loves the quick fix:

“Back pain? Do this stretch.”
“Neck pain? Massage this muscle.”
“Got a knot? Break it up.”

The body usually doesn’t work that way.

If something has been bothering you for months or years, improvement often takes time, consistency, and more than one approach.

Massage can help reduce pain and sensitivity.
Stretching can help improve range of motion.
Movement helps you use that range.
Strengthening helps you build capacity within it.

And sometimes you feel dramatically better after one massage—and that’s great. But that doesn’t mean every chronic problem should disappear in a single session.

Think about training: one rep doesn’t build a muscular body. One stretch or one massage technique shouldn’t be expected to undo years of persistent pain either.

There are no knots that I need to “break up.”

My job is to help create an opportunity for your body to feel better, move better, and gradually tolerate more.

Don’t chase the magic stretch. Build a better body over time.

💪 FLEXIBILITY WITHOUT STRENGTH IS ONLY HALF THE EQUATION!

Are you stretching at the wrong time?

Here's something to consider before your next workout.

Prolonged static stretching immediately before strength training can temporarily reduce your maximum strength and power output.

Instead, prioritize dynamic movements and progressive warm-up sets to prepare your muscles and joints for exercise.

Save your longer static stretching sessions for after your workout or separate flexibility sessions.

But here's the BIGGER lesson.

RANGE OF MOTION IS ONE THING. STRENGTH WITHIN THAT RANGE IS ANOTHER.

Stretching can help improve flexibility, but flexibility alone doesn't guarantee that you have the strength and control to use your newly acquired range of motion.

That's where resistance training comes in.

Developing strength throughout your available range of motion helps improve muscular control, joint function and physical performance.

The goal isn't simply to become more flexible.

It's to become STRONGER throughout your entire range of motion.

✅ Develop flexibility.
✅ Build strength.
✅ Improve muscular control.
✅ Train your body to USE its available range of motion.

Don't just develop movement. Develop the strength to OWN that movement.

Everyone talks about discipline, grit, and hard work.

But those are only part of the equation.

Soft skills are the multiplier.

You can have discipline × 1.

Now multiply that discipline by patience.
Multiply it by focus.
Multiply it by concentration.
Multiply it by calmness.
Multiply it by humility.

Suddenly, the same amount of effort becomes far more effective.

Patience keeps you going when results take time.
Focus directs your effort where it matters.
Calmness keeps emotion from wasting your energy.
Humility keeps you learning and correcting.
Concentration improves the quality of the work you already do.

That's why these quiet skills are so powerful.

You might not see them from the outside, but they're multiplying everything you can see.

Discipline is powerful.
Grit is powerful.
But soft skills multiply their power.

About a decade ago I took a course at SEALfit. I was taught skills from elite athletes and I had the opportunity to share it. It's been a long time since I've revisited those skills, and what better way to refresh it than teaching another. 💪 😎 🔥

It’s getting BUSY. 😅

Just got back from a 3-client mobile massage and I’ve got another client coming in about 20 minutes — then I’m working right through the evening.

Insurance season is starting, and I’m already seeing days fill up for the coming week.

So just a heads-up to my regulars and anyone planning to use their benefits:

Book ahead if you want your preferred spot.

I’ll always try to fit you in when I can, but once the day is full, it’s full.

Take care of the body. Use those benefits. And don’t wait until the last minute. 😂

Thank you so much, Raji! 😊 This was honestly so nice to read. I’m really glad the massages have been helping, especially with everything your body goes through from work and your foot.

I really appreciate what you said about feeling comfortable and safe in my home. That means a lot to me.
Thank you for trusting me and for taking the time to write this. Always happy to see you, and we’ll keep working on getting you feeling better! 🙏😊
