Montessori Nouns in the Classroom 🏷️
Children match noun cards to real objects in the classroom, learning that a noun is the name of a person, place, or thing. This hands-on activity builds vocabulary, early reading skills, and lays the foundation for Montessori grammar.

People often ask how to start Montessori language. 🌱
This is one of the first activities we use to introduce nouns. Children match cards for people, places, and things
✨ Don’t forget to include a self-correction element so children can check their own work and learn independently.
First, we touch. Then, we write. ✏️
In Montessori learning, children first explore concepts through hands-on activities. Copywork then helps reinforce their understanding through writing, spelling, and language practice. 📚🌿
Our Montessori grammar stencils make this learning experience more engaging and are available in our shop. ✨

Montessori double digits game Hands-on addition without regrouping! ➕
Using Montessori golden beads, children first build the numbers, add the units, then add the tens to find the answer independently.
In this example:
21 + 33 = 54
After working with the beads, children select the correct wooden numerals and symbols to complete the equation. This concrete-to-abstract approach helps build a strong understanding of place value and addition.
🎁 I've created a FREE Addition Without Regrouping worksheet to go with this work.

A customer asked if we could add extra materials to the Stage 1 & 2 box and let children choose.
The answer is no—each Montessori material has a fixed quantity for a reason.
With only 9 unit beads and 9 ten bars, children clearly see the limits of the place value system and build understanding of the base-10 structure.
The prepared environment is intentional. Children learn place value through hands-on Montessori materials, not memorization.
✨ Children learn place value by doing, not memorizing.
