Justin Kilb (Petroleum Engineering Technology ’15, New Media Production and Design ’10) has built a career grounded in a deep connection to applied learning.

After completing two programs, he charted a path in engineering technology, artificial intelligence and energy systems.

Today, he advises Fortune 500 companies and international governments on AI strategy, contributes to humanitarian logistics, and explores ethical applications of machine learning in fields ranging from energy to music.

Working at the intersection of art and innovation, he is passionate about making complex ideas accessible to help solve real-world challenges.

For more than 20 years, Harold Bergmann (Cabinetmaker ’91) has exemplified the very best through his craftsmanship, unwavering humility and quiet commitment to student success.

As a cabinetmaker, instructor and Academic Chair with SAIT’s School of Construction, he has shaped learners, built community and helped others grow both personally and professionally.

As Canada’s WorldSkills Expert in Cabinetmaking, Harold has coached six WorldSkills competitors since 2015. He continues to elevate SAIT’s reputation on the provincial, national and international stage.

Without ever seeking the spotlight, Harold has been transformational in the lives of many.

At just 30 years old, Cassandra Derks (Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Technology ’16) is an emerging leader in Canada’s aviation industry and a champion for inclusion, mentorship and excellence.

She has kept planes flying in some of Canada's harshest places: apprenticing in Fort Smith, N.W.T., earning her M1 and M2 licences in Yellowknife with a 96% exam score, and serving as the base engineer at Canadian North's Resolute Bay base.

Now she's clearing the runway for the next generation by serving on the board for Canadian Aviation Pride, leading Elevate Aviation's all-women skills competition teams, and telling girls everywhere that the hangar floor belongs to them, too.

Starting as an 11-year-old bus boy, Mark Wilson (Hospitality Management ’84) has grown to become a leader in Calgary’s hospitality and tourism industry.

Mark is a champion of excellence and forward thinking, as General Manager and Vice President of Hotel Arts Group, and through his service on the boards of Tourism Calgary and the Calgary Hotel Association. He’s also, helping grow the next generation by mentoring students and strengthening SAIT’s industry partnerships.

A lifelong Calgarian, father and grandfather, he has dedicated himself to his industry, his family and his community.
