This Manufacturing Day, we’re celebrating the work that takes our systems from our shop floor to labs around the world.
From design and assembly to testing and installation, every system is the result of many people working together.
These are just a few of the systems that have made that journey, now supporting research in labs around the world.
Thank you to our team, and our partners who are part of what we build and where it goes next. Happy Manufacturing Day!

Growing materials like graphene, carbon nanotubes, and other 2D materials comes with demanding temperature requirements.
That’s where our LPCVD system excels. Its water-cooled furnace can reach temperatures up to 1100°C, giving researchers the high-temperature environment and control needed to work with these advanced materials.
Whether the focus is graphene, C**s, or exploring what’s next in materials research, LPCVD gives researchers plenty of room to work.

A new material developed by researchers at North Carolina State University could push thermal insulation to new limits!
Researchers engineered a thin-film material that combines extremely low thermal conductivity with exceptional stiffness, two properties that usually don’t go hand in hand.
The research could open new possibilities for thermal insulation in applications ranging from electronics to space technology. We’re proud to support researchers like Dali Sun and his team as they continue advancing thin-film research.

Thin films may be nano, but they can have a big impact on how optics perform.
From anti-reflective coatings and high-reflection mirrors to optical filters and beam splitters, thin films are used to achieve specific optical properties for different applications. That means the materials and layer structure need to be considered for each one.
During deposition, optical monitoring can track the film as it’s being built and help control the process along the way. Bringing deposition, optical monitoring, and process control together gives you the power to create the optical films with the properties you want.

A few nanometers can make a big difference.
The insulating layer in a Josephson junction is extremely thin, but its thickness can have a real effect on how the superconducting circuit behaves.
This makes the oxidation step an important part of the fabrication process, where having precise control can produce consistent results.

Many design decisions contribute to a breakthrough.
What materials will be processed? What capabilities are needed? How might the system need to grow as research progresses?
These questions help guide the design process and ensure each system is built with each specific research goal in mind.
