It’s been a busy week! Here are some pics from our class this week at . Let’s have some fun and learn some first aid! (But maybe not wrap the gauze around a person’s face lol)

Should you learn CPR? Let’s follow this highly scientific flow chart…
Not sure if you should learn CPR? I made a highly scientific quiz.
October is National Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month, which means I'll probably be yapping on here even more than usual. Because that's what happened to my husband Will, and it changed our family's life forever.
Over 70% of cardiac arrests take place at someone's house. In our case, it was our bedroom on an otherwise average night. (0/10, would not recommend.)
I had no idea that Will needed CPR. Thank god for Lisa, the amazing 911 operator who talked me through every compression.
We’re lucky our story had a happy ending. As a friend joked, “Your husband is famously alive.”
CPR isn’t a guarantee, but it can double or even triple the odds of survival. Isn’t that what you’d want for your loved one?
You don't even have to get certified. The American Heart Association has a simple video at: cpr.heart.org
Watching it once means you'll be more prepared to jump in and save a life if you ever need to.

🚨 OCTOBER 8 IS ALMOST HERE! 🚨
I’m really excited to be back at the Kanata Theatre for another day of first aid training—and if you’ve been putting off getting certified or renewing your certification, this is a great opportunity to get it done!
Even better, these are blended courses, which means you complete the theory portion online at your own pace, at home, before October 8. Then we spend our time together in class focusing on the practical, hands-on skills. No sitting in a classroom all day listening to theory!
We’ll be offering:
❤️ CPR-C & AED — $69 + tax
🩹 Basic First Aid — $99 + tax
⛑️ Intermediate First Aid — $129 + tax
And I’ve got an even better reason to sign up…

Yesterday I had the privilege to help the paramedics show a cadre of new doctors what prehospital care looks like! I’m glad they were able to save me!

STROKE RECOGNITION: FACE. ARMS. SPEECH. TIME.
Stroke affects around eight hundred thousand people a year in the US, and it's one of the few emergencies where a bystander's recognition directly determines which treatments are still available by the time the patient arrives. New data shows the public can perform stroke recognition scales like FAST accurately, especially with 911 telecommunicator coaching.
Face drooping.
Arm weakness.
Speech difficulty.
Time to call.
If stroke is suspected, activate EMS immediately — don't wait to see if it passes, and don't drive them yourself.
800,000 strokes a year in the US — would you recognize the signs? Comment "FAST" for the full guide.

9/25 is a good day to remind you that Dolly Parton’s legendary “9 to 5” could help you save a life with Hands-Only CPR.
If you see a teen or adult collapse, call 911 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest.
