Thank you to the organizers at the Intercultural Dialogue Institute of Ottawa of the One Sky event yesterday. It was such a pleasure to be part of your event. It was great speaking to a packed house, giving three planetarium presentations, and providing two exploration stations one on the moon and the other for telescope use. Kate and I felt so welcomed and great to be part of your speaker series bringing people of different backgrounds together by finding those things we have in common. Keep up the great work!

We are very excited to ne participating in the Intercultural Dialogue Institute of Ottawa's One Sky event this Sunday. We will be providing a keynote address, several planetarium shows and several other astronomy related activities as a portion of the event. We look forward to seeing everyone in Ottawa on Sunday.

Every first weekend in March since 2011 we head to the PDAC Trade show and Conference in Toronto. There we explore new technologies and advances in mineral exploration as well as updates to that which we know about our planet. It is always amazing talking to people from different companies about how they are changing the way we look at the World around us to try and meet the global need for raw materials.
This year as with every year continued to be filled with new advances in remote data collection, imaging and using AI in new applications. This year I was impressed with the number of companies taking off the shelf technologies and adding capabilities to it to improve our ability to identify and document key information.
This included using the capabilities of common tablets, increased applications of drone technologies, and imaging of rock faces and core to gain more insight into the bigger picture amoung others.
No matter how much technology advances our ability to collect information and see things that we were not able to before, there is one thing that is still needed, people. People with the curiosity and drive to problem solve. People who have the skills to use the technology to collect the data. People who have the knowledge to interpret the data to make it useful. People with the creativity and skills to use the equipment and keep it operating as well as to push the envelope about what we can do.
Already looking forward to PDAC 2027.

What are we up to today? We are using our 6meter dome to teach Grade 9 science on using a planisphere to identify stars, constellations and to navigate using the stars. Looking forward to teach 4 classes.

It was fantastic to get together with other educators from the Ottawa area to explore the importance of Intercultural connections. Great keynotes, fantastic venue and amazing food.
