A change of plans, and a beautiful one. 🐴
We’re moving Hearts & Hooves from August 15 to Saturday, September 26. The Okanagan smoke made the choice simple, this is a morning built around breath, and breath needs clean air. So we listened.
Here’s the part that got me:
September 26 is the Full Harvest Moon. The moon that gave farmers extra light to gather in what they’d grown all season. The moon of what we bring in from the field.
I don’t know about you, but I’m taking that as a sign. 🌾
If you have a ticket, it rolls forward automatically. If the new date doesn’t work for you, message me and we’ll refund you in full.
Same magical morning. Same horses. Same field. Just a softer light.

Reminder to residents of Summerland and Peachland, the VDRC is open for evacuated horses and livestock. We have stalls and pens ready! Please DM us or send an email for more information.

Fire Evacuation Message
We're so sorry you're going through this, and we want you to know we're here to help however we can. To help keep things running smoothly and your horses safe and comfortable, here's a quick overview of how things work at the club:

Space is limited, so a little planning goes a long way. Please connect with us ahead before bringing your horse to the club. You can reach us at [email protected] or via Facebook Messenger @ Vernon and District Riding

When you arrive, you'll find check-in info and any paperwork needed on the front deck of the clubhouse.

Stall cards just help us reach you quickly if we ever need to and you're not around. If you could fill one out with your name, phone number, and a short description of your horse, and pop it on the stall with the tacks provided, that would be a big help.

We can also accommodate other livestock such as goats, donkeys, and similar animals — please reach out to Sherry to discuss what we can arrange.

Caring for your horse is your responsibility during your stay — feeding, watering, and general care. We have shavings, wheelbarrows, and forks on site for you to use, but please bring your own water buckets, hay, and feed etc. Our groundskeeper is around most weekdays, but their focus is the grounds and facilities rather than horse care.

For manure and used shavings, there's a designated pile — just toss them there when you muck out.

Camping is available on site for a limited time if you need it. We have washrooms with sinks and toilets, though no showers, unfortunately.

For trailers, please keep an eye out for posted signs showing where to park — space is tight, so this really helps everyone.

We'd appreciate your help keeping the grounds tidy — picking up trash, giving the bathrooms a wipe-down when needed (supplies are provided), that sort of thing.

If you're riding, please wear proper attire, footwear, and a helmet, and use appropriate tack.

Smoking, va**ng or open flames is strictly prohibited anywhere on the property — safety first, especially right now.

If you have dogs with you, please keep them tied or on leash at all times.

One last thing — these horses are away from their usual routine and may be a bit more anxious than normal. If we can all keep things calm and quiet — less group activity, less trailer traffic — it'll go a long way toward helping them settle in.

For non-member evacuees:

· You must sign a VDRC waiver, located at clubhouse

· If you have a Horse Council Membership, you're welcome to ride your horse at the club.

· We're waiving the usual $25/day drop-in fee for the duration of your stay.

· If you don't have a Horse Council Membership, riding and lunging aren't permitted, but hand walking is fine.

We know this is a lot to take in during an already stressful time. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions at all — we're happy to help.
