A tired dog isn't always a calm dog.

Exercise is important—but constantly trying to physically exhaust your dog isn't the same thing as teaching them how to settle.

In fact, if the answer to every bit of energy is another walk, another game of fetch or more running, sometimes all we end up creating is a very fit dog who still doesn't know how to switch off. 😂

Calmness is a skill too.

Place work, crate time, structured walks, impulse control and simply learning how to do nothing are all important parts of raising a dog who can settle in the real world.
Don't just exercise the body. Teach the brain when it's time to turn off. 🐾

There’s a difference.

Place isn’t just about getting your dog onto a bed. It’s teaching them to settle, stay put and switch off while life happens around them.
Doorbell rings? Place.
Making dinner? Place.
Guests coming in? Place.
Dog getting overexcited? Place.
It’s one of my favourite skills because it gives dogs something clear to do instead of constantly reacting to everything happening around them.

We work on skills like this in our Real World Dog Class — not just obedience for the sake of obedience, but skills you can actually use at home and out in the real world.

This once-a-week class is designed to help you develop a calmer, more responsive dog in everyday life—not just inside a training room.

We will work on:

🐾 Loose-leash walking and a more mindful heel
🐾 Sit, down and reliable stays
🐾 Place work and learning to settle
🐾 Calm behaviour around other dogs and distractions
🐾 Doorways, stairs and everyday manners
🐾 Calm greetings without jumping or overexcitement
🐾 Better engagement and communication between you and your dog

This is a balanced, relationship-based training program focused on structure, clarity and practical skills you can use in the real world.

A 30-minute private lesson before the class begins is included for each dog and handler. This allows me to meet you and your dog, review equipment and prepare you both for the group environment.

Spaces are limited to keep the class small and productive.
