Breaking ground on more affordable housing in Muskoka.
Last week, we joined Muskoka Community Land Trust , the Town of Huntsville and the District Municipality of Muskoka to break ground at 40 Florence Street West: a 150-home development that will include a minimum of 40 percent permanently affordable housing.
Itโs meaningful progress toward expanding housing options in a region where affordability remains a challenge.
The first phase will bring 47 new homes to the site in a four-storey apartment building, with a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units. The building will also feature 11 barrier free units.
Working closely with McCallum Sather Architects, Tatham is providing structural, mechanical and electrical engineering for the buildings, including the reinforced concrete foundations supporting the pre-engineered mass timber superstructure, HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems, and overall site electrical design.
With some of our own team living and working in Muskoka, we know how important increasing access to attainable housing is to the region. It was fantastic to see so many community partners come together to mark this milestone and support the project as it moves into construction.

More water capacity is on the way to support Town of Innisfilโs growing communities. ๐ง
Construction is progressing at the Alcona Reservoir site on a new reservoir cell and booster pumping station designed to keep pace with Innisfil's growth through 2051.
Once complete, the project will deliver:
๐น4,350 mยณ of new reservoir cell capacity
๐น+50% more overall storage capacity
๐นImproved water delivery west of 20th Sideroad
Crews have now moved past excavation and foundation work and are forming the concrete structures that will become the new reservoir cell and pumping station.
As prime consultant, led the overall design and project delivery, drawing on eight disciplines: Buildings, Construction, Electrical, Hydrogeology & Geoenvironmental, Mechanical, Municipal, Transportation, and Water & Wastewater.
Weโre proud to be working alongside InnServices Utilities Inc. and Jacobs Solutions Inc. to bring this important infrastructure project to life.

It may not be the most glamorous topic, but properly maintained septic systems play an important role in protecting our homes, communities and environment.
This Septic System Awareness Week, the Ontario Onsite Wastewater Association (OOWA) is helping homeowners better understand their septic systems and the simple steps they can take to keep them working properly.
As President of OOWA, Tatham Senior Technologist and Project Manager, Bill Goodale joined CTV News earlier this week to share practical advice on responsible septic system use and maintenance.
๐ฅ Watch Bill's CTV segment to learn how small maintenance habits can make a big difference and follow OOWA for more practical tips throughout Septic Awareness Week

Strong communities need strong local healthcare. ๐
Tatham Engineering is proud to be one of the inaugural partners in the Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital (OSMH) Foundationโs new Business Cares program.
This commitment builds on over a decade of support from the Orillia office, through Tathamโs Corporate Giving Program, as well as fundraising initiatives like Soldiers' Ride and Charlee's Run.
As a founding partner, Tatham will join other local businesses to help fund the hospital's highest priority needs, from equipment and technology to patient care and staff education.
Congratulations to the OSMH Foundation on the launch of this important initiative. We look forward to seeing Business Cares make a difference in our community.

The projects keep us busy, but the people make it worthwhile. Throughout the summer, our teams took time to connect, celebrate successes, and enjoy a few memorable moments together outside of work.
Here's a look back at some of the fun. ๐

๐ฟ๐ข Five years of volunteering with Bay Land Trust, and this year's habitat restoration day brought some new experiences.
Our team spent the day removing invasive phragmites from wetlands in Georgian Bay, took part in the release of baby turtles into restored habitat, and learned from Tasheena Logan of the Moose Deer Point Lands Department, who led a smudging ceremony and shared teachings on our connection to the land.
From hands-on restoration to seeing wildlife return to the very ecosystems being protected, the day offered a meaningful look at the impact of conservation in action.
Thank you to GBLT for the opportunity to contribute, learn, and help care for these special places. ๐
