Talent knows no limits. Opportunity shouldn't either. September is Disability Employment Month — a reminder that inclusive workplaces strengthen the trades for everyone.

British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) will add 272 new skilled-trades training seats as part of the Look West strategy to deliver 5,000 new trades-training seats in 2026-2027.

In addition, nearly 900 seats have been added at BCIT in response to demand.

The new training at BCIT is part of a regional expansion that is adding more than 2,000 new trades-training seats in the Lower Mainland in 2026, with more to come.

Trade Spotlight: Automotive Glass Technician

Automotive Glass Technicians assess, repair, and replace the windows and windshields that are essential to vehicle safety. This hands-on trade is ideal for those who are mechanical, detail-oriented, and enjoy problem-solving, especially when no two jobs are quite the same.

🛠️ 3,510 hours of work-based training
📚 3 weeks over 2 years of in-school technical training

Eligible apprentices may qualify for financial support during classroom training through WorkBC Apprentice Services, including help with commuting, living away from home, dependent care, and more.
