The Beauty of Wentworth Falls

There’s something about Wentworth Falls that keeps drawing me back. Surrounded by the forest of Wentworth Valley, the sound of rushing water and the layers of greenery create a scene that feels completely at home in the Nova Scotia wilderness.

I made the trip out today and captured this view of the falls, using a long exposure to smooth the rushing water while keeping the surrounding rocks, trees, and forest detail sharp. I especially liked how the stream in the foreground leads the eye naturally toward the falls.

Sometimes you don't need to look far to find something incredible. Nova Scotia has a way of hiding these beautiful places among the trees—you just have to take the time to stop and capture them. 🌲💦📸

Three Faces of Wildlife

There’s something special about spending time behind the camera and simply observing the incredible animals that call Shubenacadie Wildlife Park home. On August 29, 2025, I spent the day photographing some of the park’s residents and came away with three very different moments.

From the peaceful expression of a red fox, to a mallard standing on a weathered log with its reflection stretching across the water, and finally the powerful gaze of a wolf resting in the afternoon light—each image captures a different side of the wildlife experience.

The fox portrait is all about character and detail. The mallard brings the surrounding habitat and reflection into the story, while the wolf’s direct stare creates a much more intimate and powerful portrait.

Three animals. Three very different personalities. One memorable day spent appreciating the incredible wildlife found here in Nova Scotia. 📸🦊🦆🐺

Chasing the Wake in Pugwash

Sometimes you head out with the camera not knowing exactly what you’re going to find—and then a moment like this comes along.

While spending some time in Pugwash, Nova Scotia, yesterday, I caught the Salt Addict making its way across the water. The first two frames really capture the power of the boat as it cuts through the waves, throwing spray in every direction, while the third gives a closer look at the boat itself and the quiet coastal setting behind it.

There’s something I really enjoy about photographing working boats. They’re not just part of the scenery—they’re part of the story of the Maritimes.

Sometimes it's the little things that bring the biggest smile.

As the evening sun filtered through the oak leaves, this little garden gnome seemed to be enjoying a peaceful swing, soaking in the last golden rays of the day. The warm light, quiet surroundings, and whimsical scene made for a simple reminder to slow down and appreciate the small moments that often go unnoticed.

Photography isn't always about grand landscapes or rare wildlife. Sometimes, it's about finding beauty in the everyday.

Some days, everything just comes together.

After plenty of patience and countless attempts, I finally got some decent shots of these little wonders of nature. Watching Ruby-throated Hummingbirds hover effortlessly around the feeder never gets old, and freezing that split-second in flight is always a rewarding challenge.

These tiny birds may only weigh a few grams, but they're full of energy, speed, and beauty. I'm happy to have captured both the female and the male as they paused just long enough for the camera.

A Moment Between Flights

Patience is one of the greatest rewards in wildlife photography. Hummingbirds are constantly in motion, making every quiet pause feel like a gift. Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to capture this tiny visitor taking a brief rest at the feeder, with just enough sunlight to reveal the incredible emerald iridescence that makes these birds so remarkable.

It's amazing to think that such a small bird can travel thousands of kilometres during migration, yet still pause long enough for a photograph that captures both its beauty and delicate nature. Moments like these remind me why I enjoy photographing the wildlife that visits my own backyard.

Floating Serenity

Sometimes the simplest scenes are the most captivating. This water lily, resting quietly among the lily pads, caught my eye with its soft pastel petals and vibrant yellow center. The calm water and natural surroundings made for a peaceful moment that was well worth capturing.

Surgery went really well. On the way home now. They decided to remove the bone fragment and smooth over the heal bone. On the road to recovery now. Hopefully itis a speedy one!

07/09/2026

I haven't been posting a lot of pictures lately. It's because I fell and broke my heal bone. April 18th, 2025 to be exact. Finally getting surgery after the chip piece of bone didn't fuse back. So at the Halifax Infirmary today to get some long waited surgery. Going to be a slow recovery. But hopefully I'll be back to getting more waterfall pics.

Ps.

The heal bone is supposed to be one peice. You can see the peice that was chipped off.
