The story behind our Indigenous logo. 🧡

For National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we wanted to share a little piece of the story behind the Indigenous logo that represents Fiskco Health + Performance.

A few years ago, our cousin Tyson White designed this logo for Dr. Fiske, drawing inspiration from our family crest.

Each element of the design connects back to our family and our lineages. The Eagle at the top of the F represents Shawna’s Granny, Mona Humchitt’s lineage, while the Killer Whale in the lower portion of the F represents Shawna’s Papa, Tommy Hunt’s lineage. The blue strip alongside the F represents a Warrior Woman, assemble of strength, resilience, and leadership that represents Dr. Fiske herself.

For us, this is more than just a logo. It represents family, lineage, strength, and connection to where we come from. It is a way of carrying a piece of our family history with us and honouring the generations who came before us.

Today, we pause to remember the children who never made it home, acknowledge the experiences of Survivors and their families, and reflect on the ongoing impacts of the residential school system.

We are proud to carry our Haiłzaqv (Heiltsuk) heritage forward and to continue learning, remembering, and sharing our family’s story.

13 years later, and Dr. Wu is still helping our patients feel their best. 💙 We’re so grateful to have you as part of the Fiskco team!

A couple of weeks ago, a patient said something that really stuck with us.
