Water Treatment Myth: More Chemical Means Better Treatment
Adding more treatment chemical does not always improve water quality.
An inefficient chemical program can increase operating costs, chemical carryover, sludge production, scaling, and maintenance requirements.
The most effective program depends on several factors, including:
• Water chemistry
• Contaminant concentrations
• pH and alkalinity
• Mixing and residence time
• Treatment objectives
• Existing equipment and controls
PANAQUA develops customized chemical programs using analytical data and in-house bench testing. We can also evaluate an existing plant’s chemical footprint and recommend compatible reagents, media, or process adjustments.
The objective is not to use more chemical.
The objective is to use the right chemical, at the right dose, under the right process conditions.
Could your treatment plant’s chemical program be optimized?

Health and Safety Built Into Every PANAQUA® System
One of the often-overlooked benefits of a containerized water treatment plant is improved health and safety.
PANAQUA® containerized water and wastewater treatment systems are manufactured at our facility in Delta, BC, in a controlled shop environment with familiar processes, readily available materials, and well-established site-specific safety policies. By reducing on-site construction time and keeping workers closer to home, containerized systems can help reduce stress, fatigue, and other factors that may contribute to workplace incidents.
Designed for easy on-site interconnection, PANAQUA® systems require fewer personnel hours during installation compared to traditional build-in-place systems. They also eliminate the need for an external building, helping reduce construction time, complexity, and owner risk.
For larger flow rates, multiple PANAQUA® systems can be assembled in trains, allowing owners to phase construction and capital investment without compromising ease of installation.
PANAQUA® simplifies the construction and commissioning process while helping reduce risk for workers, owners, and project teams.

How can we be certain the system will treat the water?
The design of a reliable water treatment system begins long before manufacturing starts.
Before moving into detailed design, the PANAQUA® team reviews the available analytical data and evaluates the site’s specific treatment requirements.
Depending on the project, this process may include:
• Reviewing water-quality data
• Verifying analytical information
• Conducting laboratory bench testing
• Evaluating treatment technologies
• Selecting reagents and media
• Confirming flow rates and discharge objectives
• Considering climate and site constraints
• Assessing operator and maintenance requirements
This early work helps reduce uncertainty and supports the selection of a treatment process that is appropriate for the actual water conditions.
Better information at the beginning can mean fewer surprises during commissioning and operation.

Containerized or Conventional Water Treatment?
Choosing between a containerized system and a conventional permanent plant depends on the site, schedule, flow rate, treatment requirements, and long-term operating plan.
Containerized treatment systems can offer important advantages for remote, industrial, municipal, and mining projects.
They can help:
• Reduce higher-risk construction hours at site
• Simplify transportation using standard container-handling equipment
• Accelerate installation and start-up
• Reduce the need for permanent buildings
• Add treatment capacity as a project grows
• Relocate or remove equipment during expansion or decommissioning
PANAQUA® systems are designed using modular, “plug-and-purify” configurations. Multiple treatment modules can be combined into “trains” to address changes in water quality or flow.
For larger applications, our engineering team can develop a custom solution.
The right choice is not simply containerized or conventional. It is the system that best manages your project’s technical, operational, and commercial risks.
