๐ฑ Why does my cat make biscuits? ๐
That adorable kneading behaviour starts when cats are tiny kittens. Kittens knead around their mother's mammary glands while nursing.
Many cats continue the behaviour as adults when they're feeling comfortable and content.
Cats may knead because they're:
โค๏ธ Relaxed and happy
๐พ Making a comfy place to lie down
๐พ Stretching their muscles
๐พ Leaving their scent from glands in their paws
Some cats purr, drool or even suck on blankets while doing it.
So when your cat climbs onto your lap and starts making biscuits with ALL 18 clawsโฆ
Congratulations. You've been chosen as the bakery. ๐

๐ Does your pet's microchip have GPS?
Nope!
A microchip doesn't track your pet's location and it doesn't contain their entire medical history.
It's a tiny identification chip with a unique number. When a veterinary clinic or shelter scans it, that number can be used to find the owner's contact information through the appropriate microchip registry.
But there's a catchโฆ
๐ฑ A microchip is only useful if the contact information attached to it is CURRENT.
Moved recently? Changed your phone number? Got a new email address?
Take a few minutes to check your pet's microchip registration and make sure everything is up to date.
๐พ A microchip can't tell you where your lost pet is โ but it can help the person who finds them get them back home. โค๏ธ

๐พ We know your pet is weird. Tell us HOW weird. ๐
Maybe your dog has to spin exactly three times before lying down.
Maybe your cat screams at you because they can see the bottom of the food bowl.
Maybe they sleep somewhere that makes absolutely no sense.
๐ Tell us your pet's weirdest habit in the comments!
Photos as evidence are highly encouraged. ๐๐ธ

๐ Cool weather doesn't automatically mean tick season is over! ๐ท๏ธ
Ticks can remain active well into the fall โ and some species can be active whenever temperatures are above freezing.
That means it's still a good idea to check your pet after time spent in:
๐พ Tall grass
๐พ Bushes and wooded areas
๐พ Trails
๐พ Areas with lots of fallen leaves
Pay special attention around the ears, face, neck, armpits, groin and between the toes.
If you find a tick, remove it promptly with a tick-removal tool or fine-tipped tweezers, grasping it close to the skin and pulling steadily upward.
And don't toss it immediately! Your veterinary team may recommend saving or identifying it depending on the situation.
๐ Don't retire those tick checks just because pumpkin-spice season has arrived.

๐ฑ Why does my dog eat grass?
It's one of the most common questions we hear โ and no, it doesn't automatically mean your dog has an upset stomach!
Dogs may eat grass because:
๐พ They simply like it
๐พ They're bored
๐พ They enjoy foraging
๐พ They want some extra fibre
๐พ Occasionally, they may be feeling nauseous
Many perfectly healthy dogs eat grass from time to time and never vomit afterward.
๐ฉ But if your dog is suddenly eating LOTS of grass, frantically searching for it, vomiting repeatedly, not eating normally or showing other signs of illness, that's worth a call to your veterinarian.
One more thing: be cautious around grass that may have recently been treated with herbicides, pesticides or other lawn products.
๐ฑ Sometimes a dog eating grass is justโฆ a dog eating grass. ๐
