As temperatures cool in the fall, many lakes experience a process called "turnover". Surface water cools and mixes with deeper water, redistributing oxygen and nutrients throughout the lake. This mixing can influence water quality, including algae growth and taste and odor conditions. Water professionals monitor these changes because they can influence the characteristics of lakes and reservoirs that serve as drinking water sources. 🍃🍂🍁
