If you withdraw from your program and are no longer enrolled at the DLI named on your study permit, IRPR 222 can make your study permit invalid before the expiry date printed on the document.

A study permit becomes invalid on the first applicable date:

1️⃣ 90 days after completing studies
2️⃣ The day you are no longer enrolled at the named DLI, unless because you completed your studies
3️⃣ The date the permit expires

2️⃣ Language test

You need an approved English or French language test.

For CEC:

🔹 TEER 0 or 1: minimum CLB/NCLC 7 in all four abilities

3️⃣ Education

CEC has no minimum education requirement, although Canadian or foreign education can increase your CRS score.

🇨🇦 ECE LEVEL 1 HOLDERS IN BC — IMPORTANT UPDATE!

Are you working in British Columbia as an ECE Assistant / ECEA or do you currently hold ECE Level 1?

A new IRCC temporary public policy may allow eligible work permit holders to study without a study permit for a program or course lasting 6 months or less.

This could be particularly interesting for ECE Level 1 holders who want to upgrade their education toward full ECE certification in BC.

What you need to know:

1️⃣ You need to be eligible under the new IRCC public policy.
2️⃣ Your program must be 6 months or less.
3️⃣ You can potentially study without obtaining a study permit under this measure.
4️⃣ The course/program must meet the applicable requirements.
5️⃣ Your authorization ends when your work permit expires or the public policy expires, whichever comes first.
6️⃣ If your program is longer than 6 months, you need a study permit.

⚠️ Important: Completing a 6-month course does not automatically mean you receive a full ECE certification. You must still meet the requirements of the BC ECE certification authority.
