Before this coil cleaning, the client was dealing with an HVAC system that had to work harder than it should. Dirty coils can restrict heat transfer, reducing efficiency and contributing to inconsistent temperatures, longer run times, and added strain on the equipment.
After a thorough coil cleaning, the system was in a much better position to operate as intended, helping support more consistent performance and reducing unnecessary stress on key components.

EDL Building Solutions is proud to announce that the Commercial HVAC division of Startec Refrigeration Services has joined EDL.
This brings an established commercial HVAC service and construction team into EDL, strengthening our Calgary operations and adding team members on the ground in Lethbridge and Red Deer.

For us, this is about bringing together two teams with strong client relationships, experienced people and shared values.

A hot water tank replacement is often the perfect time to evaluate the rest of the system, not just the equipment being replaced.
In this project, we installed a new expansion tank alongside the hot water tank. Why does that matter?
As water heats up, it expands. Without an expansion tank, that added pressure has nowhere to go, which can place unnecessary stress on the water heater, piping, valves, and other components. An appropriately sized expansion tank helps absorb that pressure, supporting the overall health of the system and helping reduce wear over time.
Every commercial building has different demands, which is why it’s important to assess the system as a whole rather than replacing equipment in isolation.

A boiler that’s short cycling isn’t just frustrating—it could be an early warning sign of a bigger issue.
Our team was called out to investigate an RBI boiler that had been short-cycling. After ruling out a drafting issue, we found the real culprit: Type B vent buildup.
Over time, combustion byproducts can collect inside the vent, restricting airflow and affecting how the boiler drafts and performs. Left unchecked, issues like this can reduce efficiency, increase wear on your equipment, and lead to unexpected downtime.
The good news? Regular inspections and preventative maintenance can catch problems like this before they turn into costly repairs.
