🩵 REST EASY, BABY 🩵

Our sweet senior girl spent about nine months of her long life with us, and we are so grateful she was able to spend that time in the most wonderful foster home.

Her foster family gave Baby an amazing retirement home filled with love, comfort, patience, and all the extra TLC she needed. We couldn’t have asked for a better place for her to spend her final months.

Thank you for loving her so deeply and giving her the peaceful, happy retirement she deserved. Run free, sweet Baby. You will be missed. 🐾

Our PAWS for Life storefront shop is getting ready to open, and we’d love for you to be part of it… Every purchase helps support our shelter animals! 🐾

We’re looking for volunteers to help out in our storefront by:

➖ Greeting and chatting with customers
➖ Helping with purchases
➖ Keeping the shop welcoming and organized
➖ And, of course… potentially having a shelter dog as your personal shop assistant!

It’s a great way to spend some time with the community, support PAWS, and help our shelter dogs while they wait for their forever homes.

A huge thank you to Elevated Canine べ for hosting a pack walk this past weekend in support of PAWS for Life Rescue, and to everyone who came out to participate and support us!

This was such a great opportunity to learn, enjoy a walk together, and was a great reminder that socialization doesn’t always mean play! Sometimes it’s simply learning how to calmly share space with other dogs, focus on your handler, and navigate the world around you.

Please join us in welcoming this sweet little 13-week-old lady to PAWS for Life Rescue. 🐾

She arrived with ongoing incontinence due to a birth defect that has unfortunately led to some painful infections and significant discomfort. We’re looking forward to addressing her medical needs, helping her heal, and most importantly… getting her feeling her very best again. 🩵

This month, we’re shining the spotlight on a very special girl who has been waiting YEARS in rescue for her happily ever after.

We honestly don’t know why she’s waited so long. Eva is a wonderful dog with so much love to give, and we’ve been hoping that the right family would finally come along for her.

Until recently, Eva was thriving in a wonderful foster home where she learned everything there is to know about being a beloved family pet. Unfortunately, a change in their living arrangements meant Eva had to return to the shelter, a difficult adjustment for a dog who had become so attached to her family.

🩵 ZIGGY IS STILL WAITING 🩵

Somehow… 83 DAYS later, this handsome young guy is still waiting for his forever family.

Yesterday, one of our staff members took Ziggy out for a little shelter date, and he had the BEST time. He loved getting out, exploring, spending time with his person, and simply enjoying life outside of the shelter. 🐾

Ziggy is looking for a pet-free home where he can be the centre of attention and, ideally, a home with lots of outdoor space where he can stretch his legs and enjoy being a dog.

He has so much to offer the right person! He just give him the forever home he’s been waiting for.

🩵 WELCOME, BRAMBLE & SOOT 🩵

Our newest intakes are officially starting their journey with us - and their first stop was a much-needed visit to the vet.

Bramble and Soot are just 7–8 weeks old, arriving from a northern community in Saskatchewan. Despite their very short lives, these little ones are already dealing with some significant medical concerns that need to be addressed, so today was all about getting them assessed, starting treatment, and making a plan to get them feeling and looking their very best!

They have a lot ahead of them, but they are now surrounded by people who will make sure they get the care, comfort and support they need. We can’t wait to watch these two little pups heal 🩵🐾

Tucker is a young, incredibly smart and energetic Border Collie who is looking for a home that understands what truly makes this brilliant breed tick!

True to his breed, Tucker needs mental stimulation, structure, and a job to do. Without an appropriate outlet for his busy brain, his anxiety can build, and he can sometimes become reactive, unsure or frantic - especially in busy, high-traffic environments.

Shelter life has been challenging for Tucker, but we’re already seeing huge improvements in a very short amount of time. He is working closely with our staff, gaining confidence and showing us just how incredibly quick to learn he is.

Tucker is kennel trained and house trained and has so much potential in the right environment. We know Tucker will truly thrive when given the space, structure and guidance he needs. 🩵

🩵 WELCOME TO PAWS FOR LIFE, LOU! 🩵

Meet Lou, a beautiful 6-month-old Catahoula Leopard Dog X with a look as unique as her personality!

Lou is also looking for a bit of a unique home. Even at just six months old, she hasn’t had the best experiences with other dogs and is currently quite reactive around other animals.

But here’s the good news… Lou is a PUPPY! 🐾 She is incredibly smart, eager and willing to work, and very trainable. We truly believe there is so much potential in this little girl with the right guidance, structure and environment.

Because we’re concerned that continued shelter life could increase the reactivity she is already experiencing, we’re hoping to find an experienced foster-to-adopt home for Lou. Her ideal home will understand her needs, be committed to positive/force-free training, and be prepared to help her learn that the world (specifically other animals) don’t have to be scary or overwhelming.

Lou has a lot to learn, but she also has a LOT going for her. We can’t wait to see what this smart, beautiful girl can become with the right person in her corner. 🩵

🩵 WELCOME TO PAWS FOR LIFE, EROS! 🩵

We recently welcomed this sweet girl as a transfer from the Parkland County Animal Shelter, where she was brought in as a stray and sadly remained unclaimed.

One of our volunteers met her upon intake and gave her the name Eros (E-R-O-S), inspired by love and attraction. And honestly, we can’t think of a more fitting name!

Eros is about a year old, a mixed breed, and quite possibly the friendliest dog we’ve ever welcomed into the shelter 🐾 Her tail wags so hard that her whole body wiggles, sometimes nearly knocking her over. And when she’s really excited to see you? She gives the biggest appeasing smile, showing off those little teeth. 🩵

We’re looking forward to getting to know this lovely girl and helping her find the forever home she deserves!
