Visit https://www.lenzaddictionphotography.ca/store to purchase wildlife prints! Sometimes I focus on one more than the other, but they are both my passion. My goal with my wildlife photography is to bring our wild animals to society's attention. These images are meant to be a reminder of how precious our wildlife is, and that these animals and our environment need to be protected for the health of the planet, and for our future generations to enjoy.

There is something indescribable about standing quietly in the forest and sharing a moment with one of these owls. Perhaps awe is the closest description, or a sense of being connected to something far greater than ourselves. Nature is not separate from us—we are a part of it, just as it is a part of us. For experiences like this, I am deeply grateful. Great Grey Owl.

Well, I had another great trip to BC! On the way there about 40 km west of Jasper we saw a black bear eating dandelions on the side of the road. I had no idea they ate dandelions! He was pretty big for a black bear- def an adult- probably a few years old. He was not bothered in the slightest by the traffic on the road. I'm thinking he must have been 4 feet at the shoulder. Glad I was in the truck!

This was one of my favourite photos from my trip to BC. It was taken in the same area where I had just witnessed the barred owls mating. Afterward, the owls seemed completely at ease, flying from branch to branch around me and occasionally passing close by, which took me a bit by surprise.
This fellow landed nearby for only a few seconds, but it was enough time to capture a few shots. It was such a special moment, standing in a peaceful forest and sharing a small part of the owls' world.

Ps I've got another road trip in the works. With any luck I'll come back with some more interesting photos!

I have to say the yellow headed black birds at Frank Lake were amazing. There were hundreds. They look great by they do have an awful call. Certainly not as nice as a red winged black bird!

This image was taken in 2023 when I was following a barred owl family in the Edmonton river valley. Cute little tyke.

Thank you to the kind man who gave me permission to photograph these owlets from his property. Great Horned owls in BC are darker in colouring than in Alberta. These owls were photographed in Kelowna, and although they are darker than our owls in Edmonton, the ones right on the west coast of BC are even darker yet. Pics of those coming soon. Also if you want to read more about great horned owls you can find more information here: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Great_Horned_Owl/overview
