Japanese Anime and Culture It successfully presented not only well known anime, but more obscure titles as well to audiences.
Animethon began 20 years ago as a one day event for people to view different Japanese anime films and television shows at Grant MacEwan, created by the Banzai Anime Club of Alberta. Since then, Animethon has grown into a three day event, it is now held at Edmonton Convention Centre and presented by ASAPA. Animethon hosts an array of activities from patrons from a large vendor hall to an eclectic artist’s alley, educational and entertaining panels, and general mingling of patrons, typically involving cosplay. The main events room host dances, musical performances, and competitions.

📅 We also have locked in our dates for next year. That's right! Animethon 2027 will be taking place between August 6 - 8, 2027.
