A major win for Alberta homeowners. 🏡

Bill 28 is now law — and one of its key provisions prevents municipalities from creating higher property tax rates based on whether a home is a primary residence, secondary residence, or vacant.

This is a huge victory for our client Fair Futures Canmore (FFC). Their advocacy against Canmore's proposed Livability Tax helped elevate this from a local issue to provincial legislation — with the framework of FFC's advocacy now reflected in Bill 28 itself.

What FFC's work, with ISP's support, has secured:

- A one-year deferral of the Livability Tax until 2027
- Provincial protection for Alberta homeowners from occupancy-based taxation
- Proof that organized, principled advocacy works
