🌲The Bighill Creek Preservation Society has been working for years to protect the ecological integrity of the Bighill Creek watershed. The Society is now appealing a Water Act approval for a proposed gravel operation approximately 800 metres from the main spring at Big Hill Springs Provincial Park. The Society has raised concerns about the potential effects of removing protective soils and gravel over the aquifer that feeds the spring, including risks to groundwater, spring flows and the creek system.
