What a weekend at The Mosquers! 🎬 Congratulations to Mosquers Film Festival on 20 years, and to every filmmaker who shared their work in Edmonton.

Four days of premieres, short films from Muslim filmmakers around the world, and Saturday's Awards Gala made for a weekend to remember.

Opening night started with the Mosquers Incubator. Areeha Mahal, Sarah Stupar, Azria Khan, and Elwaad Osman spent seven months making their short films with industry mentors, and on Thursday they premiered them to an Edmonton audience.

Edmonton Screen is glad to support the Incubator, and we can't wait to see what these filmmakers make next.

Local producer Sheena Rossiter, an Elevation Program recipient, and director Sandro Silva, co-founders of Dona Ana Films & Multimedia, are bringing the documentary back to Edmonton for a FREE public screening.

The evening runs from the screening into a live Q&A with the director and documentary participants, then a reception with refreshments and a DJ in the Allard Hall atrium.

Elevation Program applications are now open! 🎬

It's for producers based in the Edmonton region (living here 6+ months or more) working toward a real jump forward, whether that's a first feature, a first series, a much bigger budget, or a new format they haven't tried before. Production budget has to be over $100,000.

What the program offers: funding toward the production, up to 10% of the budget, and a mentor matched to work alongside you.

Eight Edmonton companies packed up their games and headed to gamescom in Cologne this year, one of the biggest video game events in the world. 🎮

Five of them showcased together in the Indie Hall through Edmonton Screen's Summit Push Program: Lucid Rain Studios, COG Studios Inc., Caldera Interactive, Daisy Chain Games, and Olivenaut. One of them, Lucid Rain Studios, got a surprise they didn't see coming: an extended feature on IGN's Awesome Indies Showcase for their game, INFERIUS.

It was a big year to be there. Gamescom brought in 368,000 visitors from 131 countries and sold out its show floor for the first time ever.

The schedule for the Creative Screen Business Summit, presented by Edmonton Screen and the Edmonton International Film Festival is now live. Over two days, the Summit brings together film, TV, and digital media professionals to learn from industry leaders, get feedback on their work, and make connections across the sector.
