Visiting friends yesterday I noticed a shoe horn I made them a few years ago.

Square octagon and round describes the process we used to draw out material in BlackSmithing . Whether that’s by hand on the anvil or on the power hammer, it allows us to be consistent in our tapers.
The by hand version is the one of the first thing I teach in all my classes.
