The City of Edmonton has issued an emergency alert due to heavy rainfall pushing the stormwater system to capacity. Localized flooding and sewer backups are being reported. To prevent further backups, all residents are asked to immediately reduce the strain on our system.
Please delay doing laundry, hold off on running the dishwasher, and keep showers short. Also, take a quick peek outside to make sure your downspouts and sump pumps are working properly to protect your home.
We can all work together until this passes. Thank you for your effort.

During a break from Council last week I walked through the presentations made by the students at City Hall School.
These "Citizenship Boards" were made by each class and showed how participating in City Hall School inspired them to be good citizens.
I love these little moments that remind all of us that no matter where we are, at school, at work, in our neighbourhoods, even online- we all have the opportunity to choose to be good people.
The future is bright with these young Edmontonians!

Happy Father's Day to all the dads, stepdads, grandfathers, father figures and mentors who show up every day with love, support and guidance.
Thank you for the countless ways you support families and communities across Edmonton.

Today on Indigenous Peoples Day, we celebrate the culture, languages, tradition and contributions of the many First Nations people across Turtle Island.
I'm grateful to live and serve on Treaty 6 territory and encourage everyone to take time today to support and learn from Indigenous communities, artists and voices.

Tomorrow is Neighbour Day!
It’s a day dedicated to fostering kindness, connection, and resilience right outside our front doors.
Whether it's a quick chat on the sidewalk, a small act of kindness, or hosting a full-blown block party, getting to know your neighbors makes our community a better place to live.
Last year, Edmontonians hosted 117 block parties and 12 play streets. Let’s keep that momentum going! How are you connecting with your neighborhood?
I'm proud to see the Beyond Belonging: the 2SLGBTQIA+ Safe Spaces Action Plan moving forward. This forms the roadmap to create a safe and welcoming place for everyone, including those who have historically been excluded from these spaces.
The term "ally" is a verb and an action that must be taken every day- and I take this responsibilty very seriously. My actions match my words and moving this work forward along with other members of Council. This is more important than ever to stand up to hateful and harmful actions that take us backwards as a community.
Happy Pride to the many q***r and trans Edmontonians that make our city better in their authenticity every single day 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️

This past Sunday, the Blatchford Hangar at Fort Edmonton Park was filled with love and community spirit for the annual Mayor’s Pride Brunch in support of the .institute.
From Council in their whimsical 'cottagecore' outfits to delicious rainbow pancakes and words from so many powerful speakers it was an unforgettable afternoon at Fort Edmonton Park.
Best of all, every ticket sold went directly toward funding vital, lifesaving 2SLGBTQ+ programs right here in our community. Thank you to everyone who joined us, celebrated with us, and made the day an absolute success!

The City of Edmonton is officially the first in Alberta to offer free access to self-service sports equipment lending stations!
Through an amazing partnership with Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities and Equip Sport, 30 stations are launching across the city to remove barriers to sport and recreation.
We are lucky to have two of these brand-new stations right here in Ward Anirniq! Next time you want to get active, you don't even need to bring your own gear.
Just head down to:
- Sherbrooke Community League (stocked with basketballs)
- Dovercourt Community Park (stocked with basketballs and a football/soccer ball)
How to play:
1️⃣ Download the free “Equip Sport” app.
2️⃣ Locate the locker and scan to unlock the gear.
3️⃣ Enjoy your game, and return the equipment when you're finished so the next neighbor can use it!

It’s Waste Collector Appreciation Week!
Let’s take a moment to thank the dedicated City of Edmonton Waste Services workers who keep our city clean and safe every day.
How can you help?
- Leave a thank-you note on your carts or bins.
- Drive slowly and give space when you see a stopped collection truck.
- Keep our workers safe by taking hazardous waste and e-waste to an Eco Station, not your regular bin.
Thank you!

New Blog!
Did you know our roads are the city's most heavily subsidized assets, yet they benefit plenty of drivers from outside the city who don't actually pay local taxes?
To address this, the Urban Planning Committee is looking at a major overhaul of our parking program.
While I don't agree with all the ideas proposed, I encourage everyone to read the whole blog. The main goal of this program is shifting the heavy maintenance costs of city-owned lots off of the tax levy and onto user fees instead. Ultimately, we need a parking system that actually works for Edmontonians and local businesses both now and in the future.
What do you think? Do these updates strike the right "sweet spot" between user fees and the tax levy? Read the full breakdown and share your thoughts!
