It's been 3 months since I posted and I don't regret it.

This past spring was one of the busiest I can remember and instead of stressing about finding paint time or getting ready for artwalks, I focused on my family.

I can honestly say it was the best choice for me. It's the first spring in years that I wasn't worried about being present for my girls during their softball season and filling every spare moment with frantic painting.

When I started painting again last month, I felt fresh and ready. I felt sure about my process and style for the first time in a while.

I think this has been a long time coming. Last year I felt the pressure to produce a collection of work and the word I'd use to describe how I felt is Disconnected.

I did paint some pieces that felt so defining but I also struggled more than I have in years.

I'll be honest, I don't know if this is the right decision. I'm afraid to lose momentum but I also don't want to feel stuck.

So here I go. Wish me luck!

One more day until the opens in Edmonton! The anticipation definitely hit after dropping off my art on Monday, including this framed 12x12.

Once in a while and painting comes along that teaches me about the perseverance of chasing a vision that only I can see.

It teaches me about not settling, even if no one knows that it doesn't measure up to what see in my mind.

It teaches me that something that seems so simple can turn out to be far more difficult.

I'm so excited to say that this piece is finally complete.

How busy is fall for you?

I might be drowning a little bit over here but work is still happening in the background. I'm putting the finishing touches on this 12x12 and then it will be added to my inventory for the in Edmonton next month. Don't forget to buy your tickets!
