3rd year Autobody apprentice Anika Jones and Chair of the Autobody program, Cecile Bukmeier, are headed to Shanghai to represent Team Canada in Car Painting at WorldSkills. With more than 1,400 competitors from 90 countries across 64 skill competitions, this is one of the largest gatherings of talent every two years.

Anika will have her parents travelling alongside her, cheering her on as she competes against 23 other car painters from participating nations.

Cecile will also represent NAIT on the world stage as the Team Canada WorldSkills Expert in the same competition. She has also worked alongside Anika for the last two years, helping her prepare for this competition.

Good luck, Anika! We're proud to see you and Cecile representing NAIT, Alberta and Canada on the world stage.

Today marks the start of construction on the Advanced Skills Centre, a 625,000-square-foot investment in the future of skilled trades and technology education in Alberta.

As the largest capital project in NAIT's history, the Advanced Skills Centre will create modern labs, classrooms, and workspaces designed to support the next generation of talent across construction, energy, manufacturing and transportation programs.

Thank you to everyone who attended, including Andrew Knack, and the many partners who helped move this project from concept to construction, including the Honourable Myles McDougall, our design partners at GEC Architecture and DIALOG, and our construction partner, PCL Construction.

We're excited to see this vision reshape our campus.

A new season. New faces. Another national championship.

After a standout 2025-26 season, the NAIT Ooks are gearing up for another exciting year of competition, and hopefully, championship moments.

This fall, we welcome a new men's hockey head coach, bring a major Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference cross-country race back to NAIT, and host the CCAA - ACSC men's soccer national championship.

But success isn't just measured on the scoreboard. Last year, Ooks student-athletes achieved an impressive 3.3 GPA and nine earned CCAA Academic All-Canadian honours.

Whether you're cheering from the stands or following along online, there's plenty to look forward to this season.
