Roadwork season is in full swing, and I wanted to share some important updates on transportation and traffic projects happening across southwest Edmonton.
Please read my blog with details on the following: https://www.mikeelliott.ca/july_2026
🚧 Terwillegar Drive Expansion: Two new pedestrian bridges are now open, improving safe connections for people walking, cycling, and rolling. Construction continues on Stages 2 and 3, with major bridge, interchange, and shared-use path work progressing. Please read the link above for a full update.
🚦 170 Street: Construction is moving ahead, with key milestones coming over the next several weeks, including lane openings, intersection improvements, signal installations, and paving work. While weather has caused some delays, crews are working hard to keep projects on track. Again, please read the link above with important timelines.
🏫 School Traffic Safety: Traffic calming improvements near St. John XXIII Catholic School will be installed before the new school year, and I’m continuing to work with the City’s Safe Mobility Team on traffic safety concerns around Constable Daniel Woodall School.
🛣️ Ellerslie Road/Rabbit Hill Road: The planned intersection construction / upgrade is now expected to begin no earlier than 2027. The Developer is working with City Administration to review possible temporary lane adjustments to improve traffic flow.
🚲 If you have thoughts on Edmonton’s bike lanes, the Government of Alberta is currently collecting public feedback. I encourage anyone interested to share their perspective. https://www.alberta.ca/report-concerns-about-bike-lanes
Thank you to everyone for your patience as these projects move forward. While construction can be inconvenient, these investments will help improve safety, connectivity, and mobility across our growing communities.
As always, if you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to my office at [email protected]
