Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and recognize the families and communities who continue to live with the impacts of the residential school system.

At Keyano, we carry a responsibility to advance reconciliation through the choices we make, the work we do and the relationships we build, today and throughout the year.

Every Child Matters.

Today, Keyano raised the Survivors’ Flag at both campuses in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

As the Honourable Murray Sinclair once said, “Education got us into this mess and education will get us out of it.”

As a place of education, Keyano has a responsibility to understand the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools and to contribute to reconciliation through our actions.

We encourage our community to explore Keyano’s Truth and Reconciliation resources and to take part in tomorrow’s community gathering and solidarity walk, beginning at 10 a.m. at Kiyām Community Park.

Today we celebrated Apprenticeship Day at Keyano!

Our apprenticeship students came together at our Clearwater and Suncor Energy Industrial campuses for a luncheon to celebrate their hard work, skills and commitment to the trades.

Skilled trades are essential to our region, and we’re proud to celebrate the apprentices building the skills that keep our communities and industries moving.

Interested in starting your own journey in the skilled trades? Join us at Keyano’s Fall Open House on October 17 to explore our programs, meet our instructors and discover where a career in the trades could take you.

Learning beyond the classroom.

BIOL 208: Ecology and ENVT 252: Plant Biology students recently headed into the field to explore local ecosystems, including a sedge fen at Conn Creek and a black spruce bog.

Hands on learning in action.
