🌿 What happens when you take the Library beyond its walls?

For Betsy, one of the most memorable experiences of serving on the Halton Hills Public Library Board was being part of the launch of Tales on the Trails, a partnership with Credit Valley Conservation and Orangeville Public Library that brings books into nature and creates an opportunity for families to read, explore and enjoy the outdoors together.

It’s one example of what Betsy says she’s come to appreciate even more as a Board member: the Library is truly a community hub — an inclusive, welcoming and free resource for everyone.
Hear Betsy share what she’s learned through her experience on the Library Board and what she would say to someone considering getting involved.

Could you see yourself contributing to your community through the Library Board? 🌱

A Legacy of Giving ❤️

When the Library received the only known Esquesing Township School Sections Map in existence, age had worn its canvas into pieces and significant restoration was needed to preserve it.

Edith I. Friskney saw an opportunity for a meaningful gift to both her family and community. She funded the restoration and dedicated the gift to her granddaughter, who has a deep appreciation for cartography.

Today, the restored map is on display in the Local History Room, where everyone can enjoy and learn from it.

Edith's story reminds us that giving is about more than a donation. It's about supporting the people, places and causes that matter most.

As we look ahead to the CFHN Giving Challenge on September 26, we're celebrating donors like Edith and the lasting difference their generosity can make.
