Today I’m celebrating another year of life, and I find myself feeling especially reflective.

When I started Sunshine Gurls nearly five years ago, I had no idea where this little dream would take me. I couldn’t have imagined the people I would meet, the relationships I would build, the challenges I would face, or just how much this journey would change me.

There have been seasons of growth, seasons that stretched me, moments that humbled me, and so many moments that reminded me why I started in the first place.

I’ve learned that success isn’t always about how much you build. Sometimes it’s about who you become along the way, who walks beside you, and the little pieces of goodness you leave behind.

I’m proud of what Sunshine Gurls has become, but today I’m even more grateful for the person this journey has helped me become.

So here’s to another year of learning, growing, loving deeply, letting go when I need to, and trusting the road ahead.

I don’t know exactly what this next chapter holds, but I have a feeling it’s going to be a beautiful one.

I want to take a moment to recognize the two women who help make Sunshine Gurls what it is today.

Krystle and Nyla.

There is so much more to professional cleaning than what you see in a before and after. It is physical work. It is skilled work. It requires consistency, attention to detail, problem solving, patience and a genuine care for the homes and people we serve.

A lot of what they do happens quietly, behind the scenes. The hours spent making sure the little things are noticed. The care they put into someone’s home. The trust they build with our clients simply by showing up and doing their work with pride.

Krystle has been part of Sunshine Gurls since the fall of 2023, and Nyla joined us in the winter of 2025. Since then, they have each brought something uniquely their own to this team and to the homes we care for.

I am incredibly grateful for both of them.

Building a business has taught me that you can start something with a vision, but the people who choose to stand beside you are what help that vision become something real.

So today, I see the work. I see the effort. And I am really proud to have these two women beside me.

Today we celebrate Krystle, who joined Sunshine Gurls in September 2023 and became our very first subcontractor as we took the leap to grow this little business.

Three years later, I can honestly say I don’t know what I would do without her. She has supported Sunshine Gurls in more ways than I could ever put into words. From helping with administration, training and development, to being a constant source of encouragement and guidance for me personally, she has been such a steady light through every season.

And then there’s the Krystle our clients know. Always arriving with that beautiful smile, loving on the fur babes, chatting with the kiddos, and bringing her own warmth into every home she walks into.

This past year has brought some incredibly difficult moments, including the loss of two clients she had grown especially close to. And yet, through the highs and the lows, she has continued to show up with so much heart, grace and perseverance.

Krystle, it is one of the greatest privileges to have you represent Sunshine Gurls. I am so grateful for your loyalty, your heart, your wisdom, your friendship and the beautiful person you are.

Three years in, and I’m still so thankful that you said yes. Here’s to you, Krystle. We are so lucky to have you. ♡
