Many people face challenges that aren't visible to those around them.
World Mental Health Day reminds us that small acts of understanding can have a meaningful impact. Checking in, listening without judgment, and creating space for honest conversations can help people feel valued, connected, and seen.

It's also an important reminder to check in with ourselves and extend that same care inward. Taking care of our own well-being matters, and it helps us show up for others, too. 💚

This NDEAM, we're reflecting on the incredible individuals we've had the privilege to support on their employment journeys.

While every story is different, each one represents the potential that can be unlocked when barriers are removed and opportunities are made accessible. Brendan's journey is one such story.

From setback to stability, his experience highlights how meaningful employment can rebuild confidence, create stability, and open doors to new possibilities.

While employers continue to face workforce challenges, hundreds of thousands of Canadians with disabilities who have the potential to work remain underrepresented in employment. At the same time, inclusive organizations report stronger business outcomes, including higher productivity and revenue growth.

At Agilec, we see every day how disability inclusion benefits job seekers, employers, and communities alike. This NDEAM, we’ll be sharing resources that help employers adopt more inclusive practices and implement effective accommodation strategies, enabling them to unlock talent, strengthen their workforce, and support growth.

Because when skills are recognized and opportunities are accessible, everyone benefits.

Today marks the beginning of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), a time to recognize and celebrate the valuable contributions people with disabilities make in the workplace.

The 2026 theme, Skills Grow Economies - Disability Inclusion Fuels the Growth, highlights the important role disability inclusion plays in strengthening workforces and helping businesses respond to today's labour market challenges.

At Agilec, we see this impact firsthand. We have the privilege of working alongside job seekers, employers, service providers, and communities every day to help create more inclusive workplaces. This gives us a unique perspective on the opportunities that emerge when barriers are removed, opening access to a broader talent pool, diverse perspectives, and skilled individuals ready to contribute and succeed.

Throughout October, we look forward to celebrating success stories, sharing insights, and continuing conversations about building workplaces where talent is recognized in all its forms.

🧡 Today, on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and the families and communities who continue to carry the impacts of this painful legacy.

We recognize that reconciliation is an ongoing journey of learning, listening, and meaningful action. This morning, we gathered to reflect on the truths that continue to shape the experiences of Indigenous Peoples, explore resources that deepen understanding of Indigenous history and cultures, and engage with the stories, perspectives, and creative works of Indigenous authors and artists.

While no single conversation or moment can encompass the work of reconciliation, education and awareness are important steps toward understanding. We encourage everyone to take time today and beyond to learn, reflect, and consider how each of us can contribute to reconciliation through our actions, relationships, and communities.

For those looking to continue their learning, the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation offers resources, educational materials, and opportunities to deepen understanding of the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools: https://nctr.ca/

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make Turn the Tables on Hunger such a meaningful success this year. From our dedicated team members and community partners to those who donated to our efforts, your support helped us make a real impact on people in our communities who are experiencing food insecurity. This cause is close to our hearts, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

Together, our Agilec teams contributed 222.5 volunteer hours, donated 1178 pounds of food, raised $738, and helped prepare and deliver 1938 meals. These collective efforts demonstrate the power of community and what can be accomplished when people come together behind a shared purpose.

We would also like to recognize Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron and St. Vincent De Paul, Goderich , who we were proud to support throughout the week. Through their unwavering commitment to serving individuals and families experiencing food insecurity, they provide essential resources, dignity, and hope every day. Thank you for your care and dedication to making our communities stronger and more supportive for those who need it most.
