It’s that time of year! Honey comes off this weekend and the bees will be fed to top them up for winter. I’d say it’s ‘bitter-sweet’, but that would be inaccurate! 🤣🐝🍯

This year’s Ontario Women’s Beekeeping Network Bee Camp was held at the nostalgic Lake Severn Lodge in Muskoka. My third time here, this event continues to inspire me in this beekeeping journey. So grateful for this much anticipated event!

Joining weak hives together with strong hives. Ruth has welcomed, whether she likes it or not- a new roommate. Sandy has been queenless since early summer, and despite efforts to re-queen the hive, the have rejected every queen cell or new mated queen introduced. I’ve been advised that mid-August is the perfect time to join weak hives to Strong hives so that a strong large colony can go into winter with lots of numbers. It’s hard to believe we’re thinking about winter now, but the bees are already there.
