SALTED! As part of the Salt Festival activities on the weekend, the Goderich Co-op Gallery hosted a workshop with artist Melaney Prevett sharing how salt interacts with water colour paints to create interesting effect.

This September, the Goderich Co-op Gallery welcomes the Bayfield Artist Guild as its visiting artists. The Guild has exhibited annually at the Co-op over the past number of years, and its members bring a range of work from just down the coast.

The Bayfield Artist Guild is a group of artists who live, work, and play along the shores of Lake Huron in the village of Bayfield. The Guild is dedicated to nurturing and inspiring its members, creating an inclusive space for all visual arts and skill levels. Members can look forward to workshops, guest speakers, plein air outings, and access to gallery exhibits.

Earlier this month, the Guild held a special art show called "We Love Where We Live," marking Bayfield's 150th anniversary. The show featured artwork celebrating the community, including a showcase centered on the village's lighthouse.

Goderich residents can see the Guild's work at the Co-op Gallery throughout September.

VISITING ARTIST AT GCG FOR AUGUST -- CHRISTIAN DITTENHOFFER

Christian Dittenhoffer’s car must have a very colourful interior, as he often uses it as amobile studio when painting on-site (en plein air).
As the Goderich Co-op Gallery’s visiting artist for August, this Elmira-based landscape artist also paints in his home studio, preferring acrylics for their rapid drying time and vivid colours. This quick-drying quality allows him to beautifully capture the natural world using a soft-looking dry-brush technique.
Rocky shores, dense forests, rippling water, and beautiful sunsets are common subject matter for Christian’s work. He takes inspiration from his travels abroad and closer to home.
His landscapes are vibrantly colourful.
Be sure to come by and see the gorgeous work of this talented artist.
