Little Mittens Animal Rescue Association
We work to give all animals, domestic and wild, a second chance at life. We are now a Registered Charity with the CRA!
This is achieved through domestic rescue and adoption in Golden and surrounding area and through wildlife rehabilitation through the Kootenays, Columbia Valley, and Revelstoke areas. This means we can now offer tax deductible receipts for your generous donations. If you require one, please make a note of this and include your name and mailing address. You can donate through PayPal on our website, through e-transfer, or by mail delivery. Through our Domestic Rescue and Adoption programs we work to find homeless animals in the Golden area loving furrever homes. We are also available to help take in rehome animals if circumstances change and they are in need of a new home. For Wildlife Rehabilitation, we cover the Kootenays, Columbia Valley, and Revelstoke areas. Our certified rehabbers work with our veterinarian to give injured and orphaned wild animals a chance to heal, grow, and be released back into the wild.

This adorable 13-year-old Miniature Pinscher is good with cats and dogs and still active for their age! There’s plenty of life and love left in this little companion. 🥰
Someone at our recent puppy meet and greet mentioned they were looking for a senior dog, but we can’t remember who it was! If that was you, please reach out, we’d love to connect.

Meet Spooky & Precious — A Bonded Pair Looking for a Forever Home
Spooky and Precious are a bonded pair of approximately 20-year-old cats who are looking for a loving long-term foster or adoptive home — together.
These two have been part of the same family for many years, and we would love to see them spend their golden years together in a safe, comfortable home.
Spooky
Spooky is the beautiful grey cat of the pair. She is an independent lady who enjoys simply being near her people. You’ll often find her relaxing by a sunny window, and she’s very good at letting you know when she’s ready for some love — or when it’s time for dinner! She doesn’t necessarily need constant attention and is happy to do her own thing, but she enjoys affection on her terms.
Precious
Precious is the bigger, chubbier and somewhat shyer of the two. She may need a little time to feel comfortable in a new environment, but once she settles in, she is incredibly loving. Precious loves tummy rubs, cuddling and sleeping in bed with her people. She’s also a professional blanket burrower — apparently, even a warm summer day isn’t too hot for a cozy hideaway!
These sweet senior girls have been loved for many years, and finding a new home for them is understandably difficult for their family. We are hoping to find someone who can give them the patience, comfort and stability they deserve for their retirement years.
If you have room in your heart and home for two very special senior ladies, please reach out to learn more about Spooky & Precious.

🐾 WEDNESDAY WOOF WISDOM 🐾
💡A wagging tail doesn’t always mean a happy dog!
Most of us see a wagging tail and automatically think, “Yay! Friendly dog!” 🐶
But a wagging tail actually tells us something a little different:
Your dog is emotionally aroused - and that emotion isn’t necessarily happiness.
Dogs may wag their tails when they’re excited, curious, uncertain, anxious, frustrated or even feeling threatened. That’s why it’s important to look at the whole dog, not just the tail.
🐕 A loose, sweeping wag accompanied by a relaxed body, soft eyes and wiggly movements often indicates a comfortable, happy dog.
⚠️ A high, stiff or rapidly wagging tail paired with a tense body, hard stare or forward posture can indicate heightened arousal or discomfort.
😟 A low or tucked wag may indicate nervousness, uncertainty or fear.
And remember, every dog carries their tail differently! Breed, anatomy and the individual dog all influence what their “normal” tail position looks like.
The best way to understand what a dog is communicating is to look at the whole picture: their eyes, ears, mouth, posture, movement, environment and tail.
So next time you see that tail going…
Don’t just watch the wag. Watch the whole dog.
The more we learn to understand what our dogs are telling us, the better we can advocate for them. 💜
